Wow. Really beautiful.

Since I've joined this place I've been clicking on link after link to great music, art and thinking. You people rock! :D

In case it trips anyone elses switches, some stuff by Nathan Fake that blows me away:-

Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink
Nathan Fake - Outhouse
Nathan Fake - Grandfathered

I'm loathe to link to anything by him that isn't in a lossless format but its still ok from YT.

No particular order, this is some music that I love and some specific songs that I feel are great:

Amon Tobin: Wires and snakes
Amon Tobin: Easy Muffin
Shpongle : DMT Remix
Irresistible force: Global chillage
Pink Floyd: Dark side and most stuff
Pat Methany group: Last train home (I can listen to Pat Methany at any moment in any mood)
The Doors: The End
The Doors: When the music is over
The Doors: Light my fire (the long version with the long jazzy mid piece, preferably live, as should all music be ;))
Jimi Hendrix: The wind cries Mary
Jimi Hendrix: Electric Ladyland (entire album)
Al Di Meola: I love most of it, often spectacular and epic jazzy music. I wouldn't know the exact category but it sometimes comes close to :
Ozric Tentacles: Most of their albums.

I usually tune in on Jazz with last.fm during the day when I work and in the evening soma.fm either groove salad or drone zone.

I guessed you'd like that one. I think you'll like this one too:

Jimi Hendrix - Hear My Train A Comin' (12-string acoustic)

I am looking for music in the vein of the new Amon Tobin album (foley room), and the stuff Sunken Foal makes. I'd describe it as acoustic electronic music, the thing I'm looking for. does anybody have any tips for me? I'd be very grateful for some pointers, no matter which direction :)

favorite lyrics by peter loeffler of chevelle.

their sound is ... well, I like it but I know it can be found as 'butt-rock' and slightly generic, but his lyrics and voice cascade

For me it all depends on my mood and state of mind. I can feel like anything from Slayer to The Grateful Dead (more often the latter) but currently I am going through a phase of trance music, I started with some house bands like The Bloody Beetroots and Daft Punk, but I am recently discovered a band named 1200 mics, they are fantastic! Their song Acid for Nothing is an incredible peice of work.

p.s. how do you link a full video?

I really like daft punk as well, I used not to, but after listening to it after a trip I got it. I like the way music is a mirror for processes that take place in society and our general understanding of reality. the robotic sounds (?) and the lyrics give it away, harder better faster stronger; Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it, charge it, point it, zoom it, press it, etc.pp.
it's a clear homage to the technologic age that has been going on so far. at least to me :P
