OBE's: have you had yours...yet?

Statistically (wide error margin) 50% of everyone will have ONE in their lifetime. Ironically I have had 7 to date. But what i really wanna focus on is the first one that i had. I was 15 when it happened and hadn't opened the door to mind altering substances of any sort (i find that the intersting part) no alcohol, tabocco, nothing. And so one day I was just kinda sitting there (many details ommitted) and i just...floated out of myself. specifically my conciousness seperated from my body. I had the distict feeling that something was different so i instictivly "turned" around and holy sh*t!! there i sat about 10 feet away!!! talk about a major case of WTF. So ideas. How is this possible? questions and comments please.

the last out of body experience i had was on big doses of kavalactones (kava-kava extract) while fishing with a friend. it was the first time i ever saw the bald patch on my head while floating above my head. it was only when i realised it was strange that i slammed back into my body

I have had some OBE's, but can't remember really well... it's really strange, because you are so used of having a body that you can't really remember how it has been without a body... It's also not easy. In order to get out of your body, you got to "trick" your body while in sleep paralysis and not fall asleep, while in the hipnagogic state.

You just need to focus on a point of energy about half a meter above your head. One you have visualised that point, once you feel it's there you have to convince yourself you really want to go to that point. This is quite hard to do sober imo, but on a trip you just slide out of your body

Obviously my not existing mental focus in the OBE didn't allow me to store the memories well enough due to the lack of also not existing mental focus while OOB.

the quite precise formulation in my post resulted from 5 minutes non-successful-trying-to-recall the memories from the OBE's... it was a speculation though, because of the lack of specific scientific backup information which i don't have and therefore can't tell it is absolutely correct.

OBE = out of body experience = experiencing reality from a different perspective than your body = experiencing reality from out of your body

... yes obviously one word in the expression "out of body experience" has been seen as trivial and been left out ... but you are right and i too wonder why people keep using the false code instead of the right code...

I've had experiences on psychedelics where I felt like I was being pulled not so much out of my body as out of my reality, personality, etc.. like becoming someone else, seeing another version of me in a different quantum reality and being pulled towards him.

Or once on an acid trip (eyes closed) I actually became someone else who was looking through her eyes, feeling her sensations.. looking at herself in a mirror. wasn't even sure how to get back to my body for a while

not sure what you would call that.

i would call it "realizing that you are one with everything". at least that would explain why you were looking through her eyes and having felt her sensations ...

well... it wouldn't really explain it, however it would shed some light on your experience.

Well this is where it gets tricky. you can have one during a dream, but they are very rare. the difference is that your conciousness must change (move) not just your perspective. ie in a dream you may see yourself in the third person, but usually are still connected to the "person" (you) that you are seeing. But if you really feel like you've seperated "mind and body" than you probably did have an out of body experience, even if it was in a dream.
