Oh yeah i forgot Deadbeat (space sent me some songs before named 'slow rot from rethoric' and 'port au prince', I especially liked the alst one) Thx space. I remembered I was suprised that you knew that much about so many different genres. Our music freak, hehe kidding of course.

tryptonaut anyone could think you were a DJ ??? I couldnt listen to the first one on you tube , but the second one from myspace "smoked glass and chrome" is REALY groovy . The third one from space is a bit soulless for me . And i agree with Jahvisions about some things being to fast and dark for me on a trip . What about real roots ragga , rude boy from the late 60s before Ken Livingston and Desmond Dekker ??? Anyone heard of Prince Jazbo ???

Our music freak works in a record shop and listens to music all day so its no wonder that he has a lot of music knowledge .

Yeah like the old reggae and roots too but a little less while i am tripping, i guess because dub carries more sound effects that your normaly don't even hear but while tripping you hear everything.

Tryptonaut ,

I have listened to "smoked glass and chrome" 4 times now and could listen to it all night , where can i download more of it please ???

Jahvisions ,

The old stuff didnt have any reverb in it , that came later and i dont like it either .

GOD a dit:

I know what you mean, the songs on his myspace (and his new album) are kinda cheap, but it's just to get an idea what it sounds like...
His other album is much warmer.
On the other hand, you might not like electronic music like that, it deff. doesn't have that "band" feeling.

Prince Jazzbo! You know him! (ofcourse you have a lot of life's experience)
Too few people ever mention him.
Although (in a lot of circles) not as popular as the rest of his time, he deffinitely has some good tunes!
(although I must admit it's not exactly my thing, but it shure isn't a punishment to listen to :))

And yes Jahvisions, you are right, I am a music freak
But I knew a lot about music before I got hired at my recordstore in the first place

Dead can dance is beautiful!

Roots Reggae can be pretty nice while tripping - I remember listening to Ken Boothe - Richard Cory about a hundred times in a row on a trip once. However it wasn't a strong trip, it was more kind of a small trip with a few beers in advance (dunno if the attachment works)

Another song I'd really like to check out while tripping is Crumblenaut by Younger Brother - just found it a few days ago. I can imagine this is a perfect soundtrack when you smoked a lot of oily, black hashish :)

Oh and by the way when I'm tripping I often love music that I normally don't consider very interesting. A good example is the Ozric Tentacles which I find nice when I'm sober. Nice, nothing more... Then I listen to the same album on a good trip and suddenly it's a musical revelation... there's so much detail in their songs, you can't listen to them while driving a car for example, then you'll just hear some boring elevator music. But with 6grams shrooms the whole thing opens up like a beautiful flower.

One time I thought I had discovered the best Zion Train track ever, listened to it a dozen times while tripping. I listened to it again the next day and was very, very disappointed because it was plain boring and repetitive ("praying mantis" from the '94 Siren album). It's meditative music at its best, good for trips and meditation, but not so interesting when you're sober.

Space, I listened to Venetian Snares - that is some crazy shit! You listen to that when you're on a trip? Sounds like Beethoven on pcp ;)
Don't get me wrong, I like it, it definitely has a lot of power, but as a soundtrack for tripping? I don't know...

But that just came out, did you trip on it this weekend??? :D
Well not really...erf I mean yes because venetian snares is a trip by itself (so twisted that drugs aren't advisable*):D . So I can say that I've been tripping all day long especially in the subway early in the morning and late in the afternoon on my way to work.

*exception made of cafeine 8)

I`ve only seen Ozric Tentacles once live , thank god . 16 people on stage all badly playing diferent styles of "music" at the same time . It was as bad as the bay city rollers live .

Being in an obscure music mood today has anyone heard of or seen one of my favorits "The wailing cocks" ????

Its a pity John Peel is dead , but at least he had the privelidge of dieing "high" in the andes in peru .

ah I could imagine tripping with venetian snares. ok, the salvia trip got really highspeed mind bending and breaking and shooting ones mind out of the room to see atoms which look like cylinders etc...
but I have to admit I'd prefer Boards of Canada

Have you heard Rossz Csillag Allat Szulletett?
It's aaaawesome, or winter in the belly of a snake...

Ok, I know what you mean, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but I love it

Boards also

I don't like winter in the belly of a snake, one of the few album I hardly like.

and the new album is disappointing too. I mean, where are the snares gone? this is venetian violins. rossz was ok.. but this is too much.. I hope his next album will be more breakcore-ish :(

I want another meathole, or winnipeg, or even better, another cavalcade. these are awesome.

I love his "classical style" and the new album IS a soundtrack ;)

Meathole I dind't like that much, I do have it though...
I have everything he released on cd, except for Greg Hates Car Culture, wich you can't get anywhere...

that's not an excuse ;)
and technically it isn't... it has the "ost" in the title, you could say it's a soundtrack of his life or something, but as we don't know his life...

ok, yann tiersen was one of the first (well, for me) to proof that a soundtrack can be a stand-alone album too :) love the amelié soundtrack. and the movie even more :)
but now that's kinda offtopic.

The Fountain or shut the fuck up!!!!!

(haha just kidding ofcourse, love and light  )

I disagree :P honestly I think that my downfall has some of venetian snares most accomplished work to date (like the track "integraation") and it's a beautiful album by itself.

My two favorite "breakcor-ish" albums from venetian snares are :

the chocolate wheelchair album.
With the track "hand throw" which really gave a meaning to drill'n bass.

And of course the unforgettable Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972-2006
