The engine of my car died about an hour ago. The car itself (a Rover 416) is from 1996, so it's total loss... Damnit!! Why does everything have to break down?

It happened on the highway, ~ 120 Kph, oil checked recently. A mixture of oil and water were sprayed all over two parts of the engine, smoke came from the engine, and from the exhaust. No warning signs. I just noticed that suddenly I couldn't go faster than 120, went off the highway within two minutes, stopped my car on top of a hill, and then noticed the fumes. It's clear it's going to cost at least 1500 euros to get it repaired, but the car isn't worth it anymore.

Are you good with motors ? Did you get it checked by anyone ?

If its oil and water it sounds like it could be a"Dichtung" , maybe its called a seal .

I'm not good with engines (I just ruin them), but the guy from road patrol service said most likely the head gasket (Kopf-Dichtung ) needs replacement. The guy from my garage said that if that's the case, it wouldn't be worth it.

Thats what i thought it would be . If you have a few tools and can find a new gasket at a car parts shop its usualy very easy to change it . I dont know your model though .

I find it extremely funny that my car broke down today. I don't think I want to have it fixed. It's an incredibly unsafe car in rainy weather, especially at night. I'm glad my loved ones and I survived it all.

CM- you should be able to get a replacement gasket from a car breakers/scrap yard. you will need a friendly mechanic to fit it though, the torque on each nut should be even or it will just blow again

lifes pretty much bullshit for me at the moment
i've officially hit the lowest dip i've been in for a long time
although luckily enough my mental state is staying quite strong and im not too affected by it, not depressed just a bit frustrated

no job, no money, no smokes, no weed, no drugs, no girl
at least i have my foundations of friends and family, but i dont even have the money for transit to see my friends

i've been trying over the last 3 weeks to get a job, its starting to really piss me off, smug pricks over the counter
2morrow im going into the welfare office so i can start getting unemployment money, luckily enough for me our country has that, if i were in a country that didnt things would start getting alot harder from here

i smoked my last 2 cigarettes last night, which made me FEEL poor
the fact that i have precisely $7.65 in my wallet in coins is plain pathetic
YET im staying strong, in the past i know i wouldnt have been this strong, i would have gotten depressed and it would have messed with me alot more

im lucky to have a place to live and people who give a shit, if i didnt i'd be well and truly fucked
im more grateful than they realize, as soon as i get a job i'll let them know how much it has meant to me
