I think bitching about society doesn't help changing it. Change that comes from anger is always disharmonious. It should come from love to have harmonious results.

Saying 'people are hypocrites' is the same as saying 'people are stupid'. It doesn't explain anything and isn't based on anything. Hypocrisy is disharmony between what you think, what you say and how you act. I don't think everyone is disharmonious (although a lot of people are).

Bitching about society while you are working in it is really just bitching about yourself, remember the video you posted, mysticwarrior? Everything is reflected in everything. Society is you and you are society. Bithcing about yourself doesn't help making you happy or having a fullfilling life. You are responsible for your own life and saying 'society should feed me' and then saying 'fuck society' only makes you a helpless sap.

Famous quote by I think it was Einstein.
"No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it."

If you don't want to be dragged into lower states of consciousness by society, then don't let yourself be dragged down. Let your light shine on it and persevere.

Sorry for the rave, I just feel strongly about this.

I'm very happy that viennese university students are protesting against education-cutbacks and the bachelor/master system. I felt like in the sixties today :P
this was very surprising.

that's cool pancake! Are they riots or just like, strikes?

I just want to say

FUCKING TGIF This week was SO extreme.

Anything to do with your medication?

no riots/violence. the main auditorium has been blocked since 3 days now. other universities in austria are starting to protest as well and we get a lot of attention from the media (especially me, my photo was in at least 4 different newspapers :P ).
let's see how this is going to evolve.

@ Ganesha

Well.. that's what this topic is for isn't it? for bitching and stuff? :? "let it out"
So that's what we do :P

Yes and no, I would have done alot worse in school without the medication - but this stuff does take a toll on your energy after it's dissipated.

I just had ALOT to do, alot alot. Tests, homework, writing, labs, calls, etc.

I slept for 11 hours today(night) and when I woke the first time I had experience sleep paralysis for the first time, I knew someone was in my apartment, and I tried to talk and say who's there? but I couldn't. I tried to move my arm, and it felt SOOOOOO GOOOOOD but I couldn't move anything. I felt sedated on heroine, I loved it though. Although I was thinking someone was robbing my apartment :)

I hope they end the strike peacefully and the students favor, are they rioting because of $? or.. ?

in the end it comes down that. budgets are being cut, bachelor/master systems are introduced, they want to reintroduce fees for studying (which, when they were introduced some years ago didn't really rise the quality of the university, quite on the contrary, the ranking got worse and worse. most of the money went to paying state-debts and not to the universities)

what I dislike most is that the courses at university are getting more and more economised, meaning that the main aim is not education, but the production of work force, which is much in the interest of the economy. this brings a lot of damage to the overall quality of the education, if you ask me.

hah, yes. interesting point and now that you mention this it is very sad. The universities here too, except I am at a very "good" research place - which is to say there is very good classes that aim to educate in what you WANT to actually learn... But most classes that end in "engineering" are completely trieing to get you ready for work.

bad economy+conservative times==short term thinking.. also known as the end of general research, which is unfortunate because that's where real fascinating and unexpected discovery happens

I think in the end, everything has a cicle, and "things" just keep repeating themselves on different stages of "evolution".

it's true in a way. so far there have been strikes and protests every 20 years, 1969, 1989, 2009.
but calling it a circle, I don't know ;) that would imply that there is no change, but there sure is, bad and/or good.

holy crap, this last week was quite an up and down. falling in love shot me through clouds, just to hit the floor again soon after. it sucks because she's got a boyfriend, whom she really likes. furthermore he's a really good friend of mine :X
somehow it's comforting, in the sense that I now know that I CAN fall in love.. I was doubting it already. on the other hand, how am I supposed to know what love (that couple kind) is when it hasn't been returned so far.. I've always had bad luck in that respect, always falling in love with people with whom it never worked out.
all in all it was good that it happened, I learnt a lot from that. ever since I went to vienna I changed a lot, from more or less a loner to quite a social person. who could have known that getting to know new people is that easy? :P

I think in the end, everything has a cicle, and "things" just keep repeating themselves on different stages of "evolution".

That is so detrimental to progresss.
Nice excuse to not have to think so much though.

It's part of how we think. By identifying cyclic events, repetitions, we can give them a symbol and use them as a concept.
A bit like programming; how series of algorithms that are used frequently get welded into a function.

Your post wasn't wrong, sorry if I was a bit agressive

It's indeed a way of thinking less.
Or typing less in the programming metaphor

I'm frustrated coz it's friday night and im too sick to go out.
