I usually listen to Jazz (Charlie Parker, Horace Silver), Blues, Pink Floyd, The Doors and electro, house and techno (while mixing). It's all good. 8)

On my playlist I usually have:

Pink floyd - obsuring mist
System of a down - steal this albumb
- toxicity
I usually cut out a few tracks per cd to recreate the flow of the overall music experience

Also chemical brothers -the test is a regular for me.

Round it out with queens, sonic youth, maybe a few rollins band, massive attack, tool, and of course radiohead. I'd have 2 say my playlist would be

Obscuring mist, steal this cd, kid a, the test and misc (favorite tracks) of the remaining artists.

I love system for a good trip.

"Passions" Peter Gabriel and many others

"Accelerator" Future Sound Of London

Various tunes by Orbital and System7

Maybe it's just me but it seems like a lot of the people on this forum are suggesting a bunch of psytrance and techno.

I don't like most psytrance at all, but I like techno/electro/minimal, when I'm not tripping.

When I'm tripping I love Shpongle, which is mostly electronic, but neither of the above genres. What do you call the music of a young dj and soundartist and a crazy old hippie who is also a master flutist? If you don't know anything about electronic music because only guitar music is real music for you, then you might call it a bunch of techno...

I also like Ozric Tentacles as a tripping soundtrack. It's mainly psychedelic rock, but it often drifts into electro/psy.

I like other music, too. Reggae is great, especially classice Studio One sound. I also listen to rock and alternative, but this is all not so much tripping music in my taste. On lighter mescaline trips anything goes, okay, but not on strong shroom trips.

What always makes me see crazy visuals and gives me brain orgasms is
Shnitzel'd in the Negev by Shpongle

The quality on youtube is not brilliant, but can you hear the dancing firefly?
This track can make you see amazing things with your eyes closed ;)
It ends abruptly because it goes right into the next track (you need to listen to the whole album at least to that point when you're really tripping)

Next time you guys are tripping on LSD you should really listen to this it will take you on a wonderful journey:

Shpongle, Hallucinogen

Go to http://www.psylentharmony.net/downloads.html and download a few DJ Sets the guy has made. Some are amazing. The music is similar to the above kinds.

Once you are tripping and 'comfortable' listen to this
Kindzaza, Alien Mental, Derango. Just focus on the music for a bit with an open mind and it will all start making sense.

Some old infected mushroom, astrix, 1200 mics, really really old skazi will also be good. (this will be nice on MDMA also)

Cheers
Trip Safe

Also listen to these albums on acid (comfortably into the trip)
Psykovsky - Debut
V.A. - 1001 Nights

Just focus on the music :)

Personally I have found that Flying Lotus, Psyche Origami and Pink Floyd (ha, bet you weren't expecting that one, eh?...) take me to that awesome "place" while under the influence.

i only listen to pink floyd's Syd Barrett years. waaay trippier than the later stuff. i would strongly recommend that you go and buy Syd's solo albums if you are a true pink floyd fan. the music is much less 'layered', much more emphasis on the psych folk sound. it gives you so much imagery yet still leaves so much to the imagination, youre bound to have an exciting and fresh experience every time! :D

Guys also try Talpa - When The Somberness Becomes A Game on acid or mdma i'm sure you'll love it. Very psychedelic.

Hell... i love the album even when i'm sober and haven't tripped out in months.

On MDMA drum n bass (DJ Hype, Pascal, Dillinga, Andy C)
On LSD or ketamine or shrooms electronica/psytrance (shpongle, chemical brothers, Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Aphex twin...)
On Marijuana, sum goood hip-hop (KRS 1, Big L, Notorious, cunninlinguists...)
On opiates, some nice classical music (Beethoven, mozart, Bach)

When I'm just high, I just listen to the music I usually listen to, but enjoy it even more. So the big rock/metal/punk/ska family, with System of a Down, Stolen Babies, Gogol Bordello, Apocalyptica, In Extremo, Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Mad Caddies... I just can't sit still when I listen to such music high, though, but if I don't, the music starts playing in my head. So when I'm too high to function, I might throw in psytrance/techno/electro, and traditionnal Indian/Nepalese/Indonesian music. Sometimes even some classical like Strauss or Beethoven.

The peaking goddess collective

By far the most amazing music to trip too, only bad thing about this cd is that sober u cant hear/feel a lot of frequencies that wich makes this music a true gem. Actually this is not music, this is a living thing, a big universe full with living beings .....check it out

Actually many different kinds depending on my mood but here are the ones I most often listen to;

Early Monster Magnet, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The Doors and Hot Tuna...

Usually progressive rock music...Genesis, BDMS, King Crimson, New Trolls, Emerson Lake & Palmer ecc.

Happy to see some other prog lovers here =)

Well.... We all love lists, don't we? [human nature]?

Mellow expanding trips:
Boards of Canada. Air. Pink Floyd. You know, downtempo stuff.

Powerful and emotional trips:
Infected Mushroom. M83's self-title album. Radiohead. NiN. TOOL.

Wanna go insane?:
Between the Buried and Me. Genghis Tron (give that a try on DXM). etc.

That's me. =]

To be honest, the music didn't dissolve when I tried with tool...they are really great, magnificent but I can't make them fit my trip.

in one word
"TOOL"
fuckin beautiful

also infected mushroom and trippy stuff like that
but i prefer more earthy chilled stuff to trippy weird stuff when im tripping because its not peaceful and i like to feel peaceful rather than uneasy when im trippin balls lol

stoner rock is great when tripping, its pretty much made to take drugs to lol
alice in chains is really good for that too

within a week of first finding kyuss they made my top 10
and yea alice in chains is awesome
my cousin says they're going to be touring again..did they get a new singer?

It would be great if they were touring  I mean, if they visited some cool openair/festival wow. Josh Homme, the ex-guitarist from Kyuss is now at Queens of the Stone Age. They are awesome as well.
