I'm always searching for cool new trippy music to listen to while I'm tripping or really high. Personally I have found that Flying Lotus, Psyche Origami and Pink Floyd (ha, bet you weren't expecting that one, eh?...) take me to that awesome "place" while under the influence.

What is it for you?

Strongly recommended (Artist / albums) :

CAN : Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, Future Days
Gong : Flying Teapot, Angel's Egg, You
Klaus Schulze : Moondawn, Mirage, X
Tangerine Dream : Phaedra, Rubicon, Force Majeure
Soft Machine : Third
Ash Ra Tempel : Ash Ra Tempel

To completely get lost in space:
Infected mushroom, almost any. Vicious Delicious makes me have a heart attack.

To visit the spirit gods:
Shpongle, this make me imagine magic, gnomes, trolls, gods of the forests, faeries all real... makes me feel very odd and confused.

To talk to myself:
Team Sleep. This makes me have most inner personal trip. This is their album & band name.

Otherwise just ambient that I get from random places, "Spiritual Traveling" is a free album. Also I know most will laugh at this but Newgrounds.com has an endless supply of techno/ambient/electeronica.

Downloads from Newgrounds.com/audio::
Artists: Bitium-Ribbon, Cornsandbeans or cornandbeans or something.
(Really, check them out)

second that, brilliant.

aside from that once again, always happy to see krautrock references in these threads :D

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Plastikman's Closer by a landslide.

I mostly love getting high to hard psytrance or beatless psyambient.

But I occasionally roam Tristania, old Cradle of Filth, Bathory, Emperor, Negura Bunget and obscure eclectic metal of that sort.

I also do "latin" stuff, Charly Garcia, Enrique Bunbury, Piazzola, Silvio Rodriguez.

give infected mushroom a try, pretty trippy

I'm sure everyone here is aware of them... if not I'm sad.

Make sure you guys give teamsleep a try, for that relaxing, expanded feeling.

On Sunday I guided someone through their first hippyflip. While still searching for suitable music on my laptop, I decided to put on a track by Juno Reactor. Well, when the person heard that (as the MDMA had just started to come up) I wasn't allowed to put on anything else. So it was the Juno Reactor discography for the rest of that day...

Maybe it's just me but it seems like a lot of the people on this forum are suggesting a bunch of psytrance and techno. Personally when im stoned id rather listen to metal or reggae some of my faves:

Metal:
Porcupine Tree
Amon Amarth
Bring Me the Horizon
Bury Your Dead
Despised Icon (awesome if you like pigsqueal vocals)
Korpiklaani (wicked folk metal!)
Sikth (possibly the strangest music i've heard to date)

Reggae:
The Expendables
Vampire Weekend (not exactly reggae per se but a sweet band nonetheless)
Ill Scarlett
Bedouin Soundclash
and of course Sublime
Bob Marley

that's because psytrance is awesome :weedman:

thanks for mentioning porcupine tree, reminded me that I wanted something by them.
I also should get some stuff by steve roach, brian eno probably too.

an all time favourite of mine (and my friends) is extrawelt. very outstanding music, they have a very unique style. it's minimal techno, but very unlike the usual stuff.
here's a liveset by them: http://www.filestube.com/da3a9c87e486982a03e9/go.html

Thanks for the extrawelt liveset. Have you heard the extrawelt remix of leopard by minilogue? That's probably one of my all time favorite electronic tunes...

no, to be honest that's the only thing I have by extrawelt. gonna look for it.

seeing them live while tripping on lsd at the boom festival at sunset was awesome on a whole different scale. hehe, definitely recommended.

When I'm stoned, I often prefer metal and stoner rock too, but when tripping or high on MDMA, I definitely prefer ambient and psytrance. It really depends on the substance.
