If anyone wants to make a serious documentary about psychedelic/entheogen drug use and comes up with a script and production plan, then you can for sure count me in as dp or camera op. I am a media designer video/audio (which is a job training for broadcast camera/editing here in Germany) and I have over 5 years of experience as a cameraman and editor in tv. I am still working for regional tv, but I have credentials for camera/eng lighting jobs for national tv as well as short movies.
Don't count on me as much as an editor (I can do it, but I don't like it too much) but I'd work anytime 25h a day for camera and/or lighting if the production seems right and I think something is going to come out of it.

However, as fun as it would be to make a good docu about psychedelic drugs, I don't think it would have any great impact on politics or society. There are already great documentaries (like the Jan Kounen docu on ayahuasca) which have virtually no impact outside the scene.
I would still love to make a good film about psychedelics, because I always love making good films - but you need to be reasonable about the impact of such a piece...

Don't be daft, any mobilisation to spread a loud voice has led to demonisation and many unpleasant turn outs in our history.

Creating a sort of erowid with primair focus on tripping and journey's would be a good idea. Secure and modest promotion amoung those who're potentially accessible for it.

Hm I think the best way to reach a large audience is with the internet.
But as said earlier, the internet isn't always to be trusted and can't always be taken seriously.
Spreading flyers at festivals are effective, but I don't think they will allow that on festivals.

I'd like to help with a vid about entheogens. I also have experience with making movies, I can edit and direct.
But to be honest I don't think a 5 minute spot will be very effective. It should be longer and I think it really, really needs to be broadcasted.

I think the first people we should try to reach are the younger people. Most older people are kinda stubborn in their opinions and statements, I think it's easier to convince younger people.
But we will need meaningful interviews with people that are well-known. That's another thing that can be very difficult.

But I'd like to help.

What about if we forget about what it wil "accomplish" and whether we can actually do it, and just brainstorm what kind of video would be interesting, pleasant and useful to watch.

I'd like to see a video that presents the essential data from the movie Grass, or the website of Jack Herer, in about ten minutes.

There could be a ten minute segment about DMT, mushrooms and ayahuasca.

Another ten minute section about LSD and MDMA, their cultural impact and psychotherapeutic applications.

A segment about the war on drugs versus harm reduction.

Medical marijuana and the vaporizer, psilocybine for migraine, ibogaine to end addiction, new research.

It would be a shitload of information, so the video shouldn't exceed 60 minutes. 40 to 50 minutes would be great.

I know some people planning to make a documentary on psychonautism. (Still an early fase). Maybe we can connect?

What language?

Sounds interesting yeah. :)

Caduceus, you have some nice points. I myself had an idea about making a short documentary about shrooms. But why not integrate more information about other substances in it. Wouldn't hurt. :D
