More good ideas Telico .

Caduceus . The answer is not pissing against the wind or buying ones conscience off by making films that no one watches . Sorry , bur remember the pharmacratic inquisition ? Its a perfect example of getting nowhere fast .

First, we should affect a task to each member, such as, off-screen voice, music, data gathering, writing, video editing.

I need to know if there are people here that know how to edit music and video ? make graphics ?

Yes, but it's not an example of what Telico has in mind, or what I have in mind. I think one can easily make an exciting one hour documentary about psychedelics that is filled with solid facts and convincing arguments. A short segment on the War on Drugs, traditional use, past use in psychiatry, current use in religious groups, individual travellers, the 5-ht receptor, current research and possible future research.

Many previous entheogen video's (Entheogen, Liquid Crystal Vision) were very chaotic, probably to "make it trippy". It would be nice to make a calmer and carefully structured presentation of the most important issues.

Its fun pretending one is actualy doing something , moving things , causing change and its good for the ego . Have fun pretending you are heros , enjoy buying your consciences off . Scratching ones arse for world freedom doesnt work but the people that do it sure like themselves .

So how can we possibly broadcast those information on psychedelics ? Our aim is to rech as much people as possible, we can't rely on word of mouth, let alone indepent newspapers.

You all have valid points, and it falls to each person to do what he/she can.

Since we are all in different positions and situations, some of us can take a more direct route to advancing certain aspects of discovery than others.

It's strategic, much like military games.....you have soldiers, you have captains, you have generals.

Generals don't take they field, they plan strategy in tents, removed from battle.

Soldiers are on the front lines, they take casualties, and inflict them, etc.

If this movement/lifestyle ever got TRULY organized, it would be a force to be reckoned with, but I fear we would simply devolve into a 'Lord of the Flies' type scenario, where all the mistakes would be repeated and duplicated.

The answer is, and always has been, to keep doing what we're doing.

Change is happening, and awareness is increasing, but we are flies in amber here, and the time scale we have to work with is very small. I mean that there can only be so much change within the few decades that is a ' human lifespan'.

It's happening.

I think you can worry about the technical details later. First write down what kind of film you want to make. Write down a basic script and then see who wants to cooperate. A good film is made by a team of experts. But a good script may be written by anyone. Without a good script, it's unlikely that experts will want to help you. If you write a good script, even GOD may help you out (with your research for example).

Trying to do something. If someone wants to make a video, let them. It can be fun for the people involved (is fun a bad thing?) and educational for the viewers. I don't believe anyone here is actually going to make a video, but I appreciate the idea.

I think its realy good that people want to do something , but one has to learn from the lessons of the past not repeat them ad nauseam.

You put the word trying in diferent type . That was good , trying isnt achieving . As i said scratching ones arse for world peace wont work . Theres no point in trying to do unrealistic things . It doesnt help change the situation it only wastes time , energy and resources........ and boosts peoples egos and buys of their consciences .

GOD a dit:
Whats being proposed is playing the game to beat the game .

That was exactly my thought...

Please read this to the sound of the russian national anthem.....

OH !!!! Restin , double WOW!!! Thanks . The picture :- The whole of humanity marching forwards , heads held high , chests sticking out arm in arm into a bright new future a brave new world...................

hahahaha you made my day.

I never said that the russian system is good...or without propaganda...but whatever. You're funny

Some videos will boost egos, others won't. A video about entheogens wouldn't focus on any particular person, and the makers might wish to remain anonymous. You don't waste time, energy and resources if the ones who will make the video were going to make a documentary anyway. That's why I suggest making a script ourselves and let some professional video geeks make the documentary. Otherwise it would indeed be a waste of time, energy and resources.

1) First you have to write a general script. "A film about entheogens" is too vague.

2) Figure out what information you want to present. Do research. Double-check all the facts presented.

3) Figure out who you want to interview and what you want to ask them. Make appointments, book plane tickets and start recording interviews. This part is costly, but you're going to need lots of unique live footage. You can't just fill up the entire video with graphics and jpg's. The interviews must be recorded from at least two angles, with good microphones.

4) Perhaps you want some footage of festivals or other psychedelic events. Plan ahead. Who will come to these events? Will it possible to do interviews there?

5) Make a rough version of the video you have in mind. See what type of music fits in the background. See if you can obtain some original music that you do not have to pay rights for.

6) Approach professionals to do the final job.

OK . But in the end its not about showing people videos , or preaching to the converted , its about getting people off their arses , presenting them with realistic ways of taking part in change , about informing the people that wouldnt watch any video that was asociated with drugs .

Television?

Everyone trusts the TV....(unfortunately)

I don't know if producing a whole documentary would be efficient, people don't have time/get easily bored in front of one-hour documentaries. What I was thinking about is a short, extremely efficient, spot, with actual data, no longer than 5 minutes.

Recording expert's advices is a very good idea, the argument of authority is often very convincing.

Making a full-length documentary, is, in my opinion, unefficient. What do you think ?

where/how do you want to distribute this spot?

That is the problem. Exept Youtube, I don't see any alternative. "Psychonauts" is a hungarian documentary available free on the internet and available in almost all possible languages. Even here on psychonaut.com, how many people have ever heard about it ? :(

I think that first we should analyse the situation, try to understand why are drugs actually forbidden. And avoid the "third-eye opening" theories, we'll never be credible with this kind of explanation. What are your opinions about the reasons of the prohibition (please no pseudo-scientific or esoteric explanations) ?

WOHW

I created a fucking buzz' instrument! I'm proud in a way... So, let's see this topic, we're going to put our ideas in common during the necessary time before doing any concrete thing.

I think it is partially the image of the (heroin) junkie. You probably know what I mean- like a parallel figure to the alcoholic but anorexic, dirty, poor etc.

The word "drug" is also very stigmatized. It is a negative term

And the word "drug" also is associated with addiction...

An English writer emitted the theory that in the 60's, when the US government realized that people that take LSD/Marijuana have stopped to lead a normal (consumerist) life. They stop working, or work less, they buy less, they are against war etc. That's exactly what every government doesn't want : a pacifist non-consumerist citizen.
