Tai chi is the original . The kung fu styles are part of tai chi . A tai chi master iis about as far as you can go in martial arts . It might look very peacefull and you might think its all meditation but it isnt .

Drugless should be able to clear things like that up , he does martial arts and takes it very seriously .

Tai chi chuan translates as something like "supreme ultimate fist". it evolved from something resembling hsing i which is a battlefield art utilizing chi. the tai chi practiced by little old ladies is a fighting art whether they know it or not.

traditionally you would learn a "hard" form of kung fu such as Lao Gar and once you get good at that start learning hsing i, ba gua or tai chi to develop chi awareness and control. thats where the energy and power begins to develop.

unless you witness or experience chi energy it is hard to believe but impossible things become possible. some practitioners of tai chi or qigung (chi gong) have to be taught how NOT to break peoples bones as their energy can run out of control and they can no longer train with others because they keep breaking their bones with no real force. the martial side is inherently dangerous to the practitioner rather like being full of amphetamine constantly.

not a good analogy but all i can come up with.some people who concentrate purely on the martial side eventually make very dangerous mental patients. usually it is balanced with a tailored form of qigung designed
to smooth the flow through the body. its a complicated subject as there are many things you can do with it as it flows through you, such as making it strobe which concentrates it into very powerful flashes of energy ideal for combat, or letting it flow totally unimpeded which is excellent for healing.
the natural state for a westerner is to block/impede its flow through the body which is good for nothing

chi comes from outwith the body. internal arts teach you either to focus the flow into a target, or to remove all blocks in its natural flow, depending on your intent

As a BJJ, Muay Thai and Boxing practicioner I must say I find those videos hilarious.

As GOD said, I won't say Chi doesn't exist, I myself tend to take it quite serious, but making such ridiculous statements\videos about what you can do without even touching someone is going to do more harm than good if you want someone to believe in it.

If you want to knock someone out or defend yourself learn how to punch people in the face. Hard.

EDIT: Plus that guy is known all over the globe as a...how should I put it? :P

I agree . But learn to punch first . Remember a head is bone and bone on bone can be very painfull = if you punch lands wrong and you break your fingers . Also learn speed , give no warning and dont just punch once , do combinations of 3 or 4 punches . The only time to kick someone is if they are already noticably dazed . Films where you see bruce and others kicking people on the side of the head or in the balls are crap . 9 out of 10 kicks to the balls dont land , and if you try kicking someone in the head it takes time , they see it coming and you are standing on one leg .

The best is talk to the person . If that doesnt work ask him to leave you alone . If that doesnt work walk away . If that doesnt work batter the shit out of him .

If you want to learn to defend your self learn judo = balance . Learn boxing . Learn thai boxing and do lots of swimming , bycycle riding and running . The traditional martial arts can be very good if you are very good and have years of practice , but i`ve seen loads of black belts that couldnt punch their way out of a paper bag and totaly shit out when things get hard .

this is more real

its worth remembering this is what Chinese special forces learn

the form

Thats what i mean . Youve been doing it for years , youve took it seriously and you know what your doing .

For the others .The thing about judo , boxing and thai boxing is that they are actual combat things and one can learn a basic efective defense very quickly . One learns them through physical contact right from the start . With karate , tae quando and others one learns katas with no oponent= learning to dance while not getting hit .

Fighting is not a game , there are no rules , no referee , no pause every 3 minutes and you can get hurt realy bad . So better do your best to avoid it and learn to run fast . If that doesnt work be an animal .

ive been editing this for ages because its hard to find anything other than form work. ive found a rare fight clip

and it will be years before i become any good, God because it is a lifetimes work

OK it was good , but its still not real full contact . I`d fight with either of them with those rules and if it was a real fight with no rules i`d bet on me . The only reason that it went so long is because it had rules . You know that fights are mostly myths . Most real fights dont last more than 20 - 30 seconds at most . I`m a dwarf and i dont know anyone who could take three good punches from me that conected and still stand up .

For those that dont know . They were fighting in the outer circle hands off = at leg length with no real grappeling . In a real fight its either outer circle , watch and wait and then inner circle bang , bang , bang gone . Or inner circle bang , bang , bang gone . There are three circles . Outer = leg length . Middle = arms length and inner = less than arms length .

great thing, I'll probably try it in my next life...

yeah, that's why I say next life

:D which one?

yeh, its real. the first 2 are the style of kung fu i study. my Sifu could fire me into the air and back 20ft with little more than a gentle push. thats why i keep suggesting Taoist practices. i dont know about the "touchless knockout" bit though, i think thats a Pavlovian response

Pavlov's got nothing to do with it. He came up with classical conditioning. It's basically binding a conditioned stimulus (a bell) to an unconditioned stimulus (food) to provoke an unconditioned response (salivating). If this is repeated you can make a dog salivate with just the conditioned stimulus (the bell). The response (salivating) is now called a conditioned response.

You're probably thinking of suggestion. If one truly believes he's getting knocked down by 'energy' or whatever, he can act like he's actually getting knocked down. Hypnose kinda works that way. It's similar to a placebo effect.

I think he was being funny . But those guys have beeen conditioned to respond in the way they do . Theyve been told what will happen ( sugestion / hypnosis ) and they have seen it happen ( conditioning ) , and they have beeen built up in small steps with other seemingly mysterious / powerfull demonstrations and it happens ???

Oh, it looked serious to me. But either way, conditioning has got nothing to do with it. It's pure suggestion and nothing else. (Or it's real ofcourse, which I'm highly sceptical of). It's a wrong interpretation of conditioning.

Yes , your right .

if they fall down they get a strawberry meringue filled with cream

Then you might condition them to salivate when falling down ;).
