Hi everyone i'm new to this forum and i'm new 2 mushrooms as well. i've been wanting 2 try psilocybin for quite a while now and as the season is starting/started i just wondered whether it's actually worth me looking yet or leaving it a few weeks? i live in the south of england.
Also if i do find anything i'll be extra careful to make sure i've got the right thing. spore print, checking to see if it bruises blue where damaged etc
Don't want 2 have any nasty accidents

Cheers

Corrigan

Go to wikipedia, and look up all psilocybin species, and do a check if you find any.
Time is perfect, now thru mid sept is when they are out, go places where it's been rained on in the past 1-2 weeks, etc... or if your going to cow poop they'll be out.

Youll see em.

The same mushrooms that grow in England grow in Poland(I mean the liberty caps). If you want to search for them,go to open places, like meadows. The best time to search for them comes after some heavy raining, like 2-3 rainy days. The season started so I wish you luck

Learn how they look before you eat them though

they are up in scotland but not in huge numbers yet. its certainly worth looking.
in UK they tend to be more usually associated with sheep. Somerset, Devon and Cornwall are your best bet just now. Bodmin is a good spot early in the season due to its elevation. if nothing else you can go to Jamaica Inn and get a pint. watch out for black panthers

hey where is my topic ?:P am shindler .... and god there is more possible then whole world will change flad to russian EXEPT Georgia and Georgians:)) its impossible probably u dont know caucasians, pitty ;)

and yeah im goin to pick some mushrooms these days i will picture them and put here , will u tell me which mush i can eat;) i m goin for liberty caps ....
thanks

Dont pick anything your not sure of . Its better to take fotos and resize them to about 600 x 600 or less and then post them here for identification . Liberty caps are very easy to identify .

If you know anyone else who has more experience with this I think it's a good idea to bring him/her with you.

I will soon go to look for shrooms myself for the first time as well, but I'm joining friends who have done it a few times already. :)

Your lucky thats the best way to learn . But be carefull picking mushrooms in a group . If others see either your fields will get raped or someone will ring the pigs . Farmers and land owners dont like it when loads of people walk over / through their land either .-

Well i went looking yesterday and i didn't find anything. well, i found loads of mushrooms, but definatly no liberty caps. one lookalike but you could tell it wasn't a liberty cap because of the smooth domed head and it didn't bruise blue when damaged. We've got some rain forecast for tomorrow and the next day so i'll prob go looking after that. might have some more luck.

its been a little warm yet. they are up here but im at the opposite end of the UK and its been close to frost a few times. it wont be long now

do i have to wait for goos rain (like for all mushrooms)?

For Liberty caps you dont realy need lots of rain . They are small and dew is enough .

I dont know about what sort of mushrooms grow in Canada or about possible Psilocybe Cyanescens look alikes . I know that in europe there are similar ones that sometimes grow amidst them so be carefull . The big give away with Psilocybe Cyanescens is the stem . Its thick and pure white and looks a little stringy . A little similar to the inside of a banana skin but with no bits hanging off . It also blues within a few minutes so press one with a stick or tread on it to see . IF you find some , when you get home spread them out on a news paper and compaire them . If any dont look EXACTLY the same throw them away .

ok i went today morning in some filds they where empty :( can u tell me some links that u promised?:)

Who ? Where ? when ? Why ? What links ?

in my experience rain around 6C triggers them to start flushing. a cold night where the ground temp drops will trigger them too. this may only be true where i live, i have no experience else where

Exactly , its temperature that triggers their growth .

last year it rained constantly *here* but the temp never really dropped until december. it was a terrible year for mushrooms

I think the "Look for them after it rains" theory comes from normal edible field mushrooms that are much bigger and need much more water to grow big .
