Just my opinion, but I'd rather have a cranky genius than a pleasant idiot any day. Especially on a forum like this.

Sometimes i believe its just because his age :D The youth, just seem to reach, far over the limits of an atleast 50 year old member, that is surrounded on a forum where the most people are around the twenty.
I don't think age has much to do with this, or at least it shouldn't. Throughout my life I've interacted with people of all ages, and hardly any of them had the type of rude and provocative arrogance that characterizes GOD. It seems to be a trait of his personality more than anything else. The only effect his age has on his presence here is his acquired knowledge on certain topics, like cultivation of plants, chemistry and the like. I think by the time we are his age, we'll be much, much more learned than he is right now, and a hell of a lot more broadminded.

I understand your point of view, but... In the end the reason doesn't matter. The fact is that the trouble and frustrations that people are experiencing, is just to much..... :S Like i said, if he only tried to be a little more kind to others, it would make a hell of a difference.

I honestly think you guys have better things to do than bitch about someone you don't agree with. Stop wasting energy.

God must be a very special person, people keep opening topics about him. :D
Maybe he enjoys the trouble and attention, I don't know.

That's what happens if no one is taking responsibility. The problems keeps coming up when we arrive at the end of the circle. This dance will continue till someone steps out of the circle or if the circle gets broken down by interfering forces.

Responsibility for what?

What about moderate the forum? I mean, this thread is quiet personal isn't it? Well, if i read the rules and take the lines of Mutual respect:

Mutual respect between all forum users. This means you won't ever start a discussion with someone else while making advantage of someone else's behavior, possible physical or mental handicaps, race or gender. Do not actively react to personal remarks by others and refrain from posting stuff solely to offend people.

What's the exact reason why this topic is started?

So if it`s allowed to break the rules without a moderated warning. It speaks for it self, that in the end lots of people will shit at those rules. That's the way it works. Me, GOD and many many others have broken the rule of mutual respect multiple times. Unless other members do interpret the rule of mutual respect in a whole different perspective.... Then this whole thread couldn't have existed at the first place.

And i know the most of us are old enough to look trough it. But emotions take it easily over, when for example the teacher leaves the classroom. In this case, the owner have left the ship that probably already was drowning. He putted other captains in place, but they seem to be afraid for there reputation and it's hardly impossible to moderate a forum at your own. At the end, the problems here on psychonaut do speak for them self.

So i think we need a team of moderators, who NOT dictate and are on the same line. And DO care about mutual respect, and if needed, warn members a several times for breaking the rule of mutual respect. You will see, that if it's clear to other members to what is allowed and what not, that a lot of problems we see nowadays will belong to the past. Especially if the moderators do take there jobs serious enough, i think the circle can be broken! So a foundation can rise, on which mutual respect becomes a norm.

On the upgraded version of PhpBB, it is possible to integrate a karma function. Which will automatically shows members if people don't accept or tolerate there attitude/message or what ever else that has been said....

I would be interested in what comes out of the karma system. I wouldn't base my opinion on it, but it would be interesting to see.

As for the mutual respect rule, you know my stance on it, I have explained it thoroughly in the last thread we had on this subject.

Your stance! Isn't that weird? I think we should talk and discuss about it together, till we found a solution that we all can agree on. If we do nothing, then we're keep running in circles, till there is no circle left.

Only if you knew his intent there'd be certainty whether this remark is applicable or not.

Yes, that's why I wrote 'seems', which doesn't denote absolute certainty. However, I cannot image anyone would persistently behave like a prick out of good intentions alone. It's very likely that there is an underlying emotional problem that supports this type of relentless negativity towards others and high regard for oneself.

I'm not refering to GOD here in particular. But using entheogens and mind expanding substances for a decade or more included with repeated level 5 experiences is not merely honey to everyone as we sometimes tend to belief a bit too much here.

Neither I'm talking about insanity, abuse, misuse or unpleasant altered states of consciousness or mentally ill people.

One cannot go back to the sober time when he looked at red as the colour red, cannot see a 5 as just number 5 as it once was, and cannot fully witness objects and forms without any spontaneous step further into the depth.

... it's perhaps just the less lowest side of the two for some.

What do you mean by a karma system Mystic? As in the forum would track the "+1" that people reply to a post with? If so that's a great idea. If nothing else it would show new users who knows their stuff. I know I used (and being rather new, still use) a person's post count to get the same idea, but a post of info and a post of spam both add to that number.

A karma system could also eliminate the necessity for threads like this one. While I respect that a lot of people feel something needed to be done, I still feel bad posting in such an obviously personal topic.

Brugmansia, I would love to understand what point you're trying to make. Can you please elaborate on what you wrote, or say it in a different wording?

Terence McKenna certainly spent several decades exploring the realms of LSD, mushrooms, ayahuasca and DMT, and regarding that last substance we all know he always used to take three to four enormous hits. I'm sure he had level 5 experiences and underwent episodes of death and rebirth. He spoke at length about the preservation of the rainforest and indigenous cultures, the absurdity of drug laws, good set & setting, psychological (Jungian) explanations for UFO phenomena etc. He took a lot of risk speaking publicly about these matters, knowing what happened to people like Tim Leary. He was good friends with numerous reputed scholars like Leary himself, Ralph Metzner, Ralph Abraham, Stan Grof, etc. The man deserves our respect and gratitude, not labels like loony or terrorist.

Do GOD's supposed experiences of ego death give him the right to constantly bash Terence McKenna and pathologise all those who feel inspired by the vast amounts of written and spoken words he left behind?

CM, there is a post by GOD that explains exactly that his aim is not to bash McKenna but to stop to see people as absolute role models.

Assuming members see McKenna as an absolute role model...

Moreover, the same objective can be accomplished without putting down "uncle terry" all the time.
