hey guys. sorry i havent been around latly. iv just been getting fed up with how people seem to twist/mold things that have been said. i was just wondering if anyone else has noticed how people seem to do this? i got EXTREMELY mad a few months ago on this forum. i was posting something about how when you do certain psychadellics you become a new person(mentally), and with me not posting in that thread for 2 days, you all twist and fuck everything up, talking about something COMPLETLY off topic (the new topic you guys made it into) ANYWAY. im not bitching about that right now.
i was in church today and was listening to the cermon. i started to think to myself.. how do we know if this is what the bible is actually teaching? (iv been thinking about this for the past year) with all the different dinominations/religions/proof and what-not, it all comes down to whos story is more correct? iv gone to college out in florida, which taught that if you have impure thoughts, you go to hell. while catholics just go ask for forgivness. Jesus was the son of god, or he was just some guy with tricks. the bible has 100's of versions, all with slight variations. whos to say which is correct? and correct for what kind of person?

i dunno if this makes any sence.. but i just have to get this off my chest.
one more thing, ive been going to church since i was born, and someone just mentioned that churches/youth groups used brain washing methods to get you into the religon. sleep deprovation, monotone talking, blah blah blah.

ANYWAY, im done. if anyone has some input on this subject, please feel free to post

So im christian greco-orthodox ,im religious to some point. My grandma is a true religious person, visiting church few times a week and paying attention on all the ceremony and stuff, she work for free in few church here. She is a neurosurgeon like my mom and she did a lot of study and still she don't accept the Darwin theory,my mom too.I asked her few times why,and she just sad that there isn't a 100% certain proof for the evolution theory.
Btw watch this movie, its funny somehow, religious group in Denver prehistory museum

Uh... is there even a 1% proof that humans, earth and everything was created by god? Is there anything that makes sense in this theory? :?

Yeah I pretty much had the same reaction Psychoid.

Oh wait, there's a proof, the Bible itself of course.

And the bible is the proof of what exactly, except than that a group of people decided to write a philosophical book without thinking that later people would take it as an history book and use it to justify mass murders and plunders, and other horrors by twisting what is said in it?

I don't believe in God or Jesus. So i don't believe anything in the bible as well. I know a lot about religion though but a religion is not for me.

Because it is all bullshit.

peace & love

through psychedelics none of you have had any amazing spiritual experiences?

i was raised a christian, but after psychedelics (namely mushrooms) my beliefs have been that there is something else out there.

there has to be.

Uhm, don't get pissed if everyone doesn't agree with you first of all, second of all don't get pissed if people take what you say, and figure it into something else, they read what you write, they have no idea your body language when you see it.
Saying shit about church is old news... everyone who believes it, believes it and knows that they don't, themselves, ask questions. Those that don't believe it know that they, themselves, use logic and reason.

did i say anything about body language? or me getting pissed because of anyone disagreeing with me? this is my point. people come up with stupid crap out of nowhere.

thx stupid people.

i believe the "something out there" is an ancestral memory from an earlier (pre-human) time when there was always something ready to eat us. if you want to experience where i got this idea from, trip in the woods at night, in total darkness on your own. preferably where nothing will eat you.

i attended a catholic primary school and was belted (leather strap) for not giving god 14pence a week 2 weeks in a row. im afraid i wasnt convinced by any of it at the age of 7

For ignorant programmed minds with a limited field of vision, the written metaphors may come across as very magical and therefore, they're truly believed by many. Most often to brush up their strength to go through life with a covered shield around their self which they won't want to see naked. Let alone change it.

And because the power of God is undefineable, the secretive source which they don't understand themselve either in their deepest bottom, can be used as a projection.

By saying "I feel and have God/Allah", which is considered as undefineable, one doesn't have to come with deeper fundaments and readily has a sticker of 'invincible' on his head. And they ain't seen as weird because they belong to a large group of sympathizers.

Religion causes a lot of negative energy within human contact, because individual different minds are competing with the metaphors and trying to pump their believes for single domination. Which implies control over the buttons as their goal.

Waiting for a supernatural change in the desert, on a mountain, or sea by singing or praying for it, and possibly the arrival of Saint may be a result of this actual belief in the written metaphors.

But of course, these metaphors could have been written by individuals who bended their own consciousness, had a mental journey and wrote it down to pass on the enlightment. For a form of civilisated humanity with more of all the goods. But metaphors alone are simply not sufficient to find the simple and actual self that's disconnected from all the external learnings and programs.

I think they are magical... in a non-magical way. Every time I read a parable from the bible, greek mythology, nordic mythology, I am extremely...flooded with the magical and insightful thoughts these words/stories possess.

I actually meant believed as so magical that it turns out into the belief as an actual existance or possible happening in the environment. Fighting endlessy and ruthless for holy places because of such believes.

I agree with you though. Lessons, mystic imagination etc can be taken out of religious work and makes you trying to dig up the message of the creator. But it's in no way refering to impossible past happenings outside the nature's behaviour.

Just like witches flying on broomsticks, it must have been a trance journey induced through the ingestion of magical drinks which contained tropanes.

idk why the phenomena occurs, but EVERYTIME i try to debate a religious person, it turns into an argument, with them picking a single phrase out of the entire concept i answer with and then going off on that one little thing, while entirely missing the big picture of my statement (which is totally rational i might add)... dunno if its ignorance, arrogance or stupidity, but i would really like to debate a religious person who doesn't do this, maybe someone with a higher caliber of intelligence...

You only recognize in others what you have within yourself.

People hate it when you remove their blanket of blindness...

naaah but that also happens on this forum.

personal truth is all i have to add.

I was dragged off to church every Sunday for a good portion of my young life. As time went on and I started seeing it all for what it was and became the agnostic I am today.

But, even though my logical mind completely rejects religion now, In a recent near death experience I found myself praying, even asking god forgiveness from sins.

What does this mean to me in retrospect?

That the fact that upon death you will forever cease to exist is terrifying - If you spend some time wrapping your head around it.

Religion is THE coping mechanism for humanity in this respect.
