Dutch is a desease of the throat rather than a language
Just kidding of course, no offence

I have some Dutch friends, if they speak Dutch I undestand exactly 0.
So it's difficult to learn I guess.
(never tried it seriously though I have to admit)

But: interesting phenomenon: written Dutch is usually good "guesable" for me.
Seems to be a wild mutation of German, English and something else ;-)
My hypothesis: If you speak German and English fluently it helps for written Dutch, but very little for spoken one.

as someone who speaks german it doesn't seem very hard. I mean, when i heard the first time "ruken is dodelig" (please excuse eventual mistakes ^^) I instantly knew what it means. and other sentences are "guessable" as tl posted already

btw. I looked up three Simpsons episodes which are drug-related.
The first one is where my Mr. Burns avatar is from (who looks extremely tripped out): Season 08, Episode 10, "The Springfield Files"

Second one: Season 04, Episode 13, "Selma's choice"
Lisa drinks water at Duff Gardens and starts tripping like on LSD. It contains my favorite Simpsons-quote ever, Lisa Simpson (dilated pupils, screaming out loud): "I am the lizard queen!"
It's not funny if you don't know the quote is from a Doors song ("I am the lizard king, I can do anything")

Third one: Season 13, Episode 16, "Weekend at Burnsie's"
I personally love the trippy scene of Homers first morning on weed. There are rainbows coming out of his razor and he's riding his car through the skies over a rainbow to the music "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" by Donovan (great song!)

Isn't there also that episode where Bart and Milhouse trip over the super sugarly flavoured Slurp drink? Can't remeber it properly though... The medical marijuana episode is one of the funniest: "We just can't stand here looking at our hands all day! Or maybe..."

There is another language spoken in the north of holand, Frisian, also spoken in small parts of germany (ostfriesland) and denmark and an old setlers town in the usa. so that is probably the somthing else

Man this is a really nice comic, much longer then I expected :mrgreen:
But it has a lot of history in it on how these fucked up drug laws came into existence.
