You started reading what i said after all the other people here . We have been talking about it for a long time . I always made it clear that at what temperature they grow and that they flower when the temperature drops and that its best to grow them outdoors . See here ( look at the date as well please ) :-

I grew P.Cubensis on cakes a few times and then thought about what the problems were that came with the method and how i could avoid them . Then i started casing them and the problems dissapeared . Then i tryed Paneolus Cyanescens the same way with grain and it worked very well .

I used unsterilised caseing made of peat and chalk and only had small problems a few times with P.Cubensis . With cased Psilocybe cyanescens i only had a problem once and was able to dig it out . On unsterilised bags of wood chips i had afew problems but they stoped when i put the contaminated wood chips outside . The conditions killed it and the myceleum took over .

I recomend people to grow Paneolus Cyanescens and not P.Cubensis indoors for the reasons you say . They are stronger weight for weight , in my opinion a nicer trip and i got more weight from them to because they grow in massive tight troops .

If a person has a sensible spore print / syrynge he doesnt need to grow on agar . There are advantages using agar sometimes but no big ones when good spore prints / syrynges are available . Agar mixes are unspecific = nearly everything grows on them . Its also another step in a process wich you can leave out by just injecting spores onto sterilised substrates . = another chance to grow contamination . The only point of growing myceleum from fresh mushrooms would be if you had no other choice . As you say it can be usefull if you have a dirty print . Growing , and selecting myceleum because it grows fast and / or thick on agar is sensless because that doesnt mean it will produce mushrooms , big mushrooms , lots of mushrooms or strong mushrooms . I have always got better results in the long run using multi spore inoculations .

If you grow from isolated myceleum it gets used to the substrate quicker and then produces small and / or crippled mushrooms . You also have more chance of loosing it . Just because you use mixed spore inoculations means that there is a bigger chance of it surviving . And in the long run that pays off .

I , and i think everyone here , apreciates your knowledge and see that you give people good advice . I look forwards to hearing more from you . BUT if i have another opinion i will say it .

GOD a dit:
BUT if i have another opinion i will say it .

Of course, that is the basis for learning. Noone can learn if they only listen to others or only listen to themselves.

Now that i understand that you aren't talking about using cakes I think your advice is very good advice. Sorry for the misunderstanding(s).

May the mushroom gods smile upon you :D
