Actually planning a little Canada trip. Two quick questions:
1) I heard in Vancouver there are semi-legal weed shops. That would make things a lot easier.
2) What' the policy on shrooms (i.e. legal pretty obvious, but in the practical sense).

1) I can't tell you from personal experience (I'm going to remedy that this summer), but I know of this: http://newamsterdamcafe.com/ which is a smoke-friendly cafe.

2) I have read/heard that if you go wild-mushroom hunting on the coast (BC), the people know what to look for and don't take kindly to people trespassing to pick shrooms. You need to go for a nice hike to escape the fools and find your fungi, which is a better environment anyway. Buying shrooms, I cannot attest to the coast (I bet it's much easier, ask in that cafe), but here in Alberta it is REALLY hard to find them outside of summer. Shrooms, like all psychedelics, don't have a good reputation where I am from, Alberta is very conservative-capitalist if you ask me.

i live in the UK and find smoking joint easy to do i live in a quiet area so their is little cop intervention when me and my mates are out. We do it all over really peoples gardens in parks ( as long as their are no younger kids ) only ever had one inserdent with the police but we just all ran away i stashed the green and came back for it later and its easy to come across mainly home grown tho get the odd big of cheese and coush now and then.

thats the major impression ive been getting over here in the UK. good weed, and people arnt to "hey you! get in jail now!" about smoking it.

As darren said ,as we are both from the same area, its not really a problem apart from the incident we had theres not been any trouble at all the weed even though its homegrown serves the purpose and the cush and cheese is normally good quality bud

I'm currently in Australia living in a coastal city situated in northern queensland, although I can't speak first hand for sydney/melbourne etc, the smaller more coastal & rural cities have always had a great drug vibe (especially pot!) about them since the mid 70's.

A stupidly overwhelming majority of Australians are very laid back in general and this definately includes coppers, I can't tell you how many times I've had coppers come to my joint when i've thrown a party, with orders to break it up, and instead just hang out rip a few cones sink a few coldies then go on their ways!
We do have similar anti drug laws to the states but noone here really gives a fuck, again this is primarily your smaller cities/towns where everythings very laid back and stress-free.. I'm certain the further south you go towards sydney, melbourne, bondi etc the more anal everything gets.

Most common bud down under is bush (outdoor grown) and typically contains 18-2X % as far as quality goes, more natural the better is the common mentality up north (again can't speak for down south!).

p.s Planning to a canada trip early 2011.. yaknow before the whole 2012 thing...(jks ) but how popular are us aussie blokes with the women?? some preparatory insight on that would be fucken incredible!!

they had got pretty lenient at one point in uk towards cannabis use, to the point of police just asking you to put the joint out while they talking to you, (my mates front garden)

or completely ignoring half a dozen plants theyve seen growing in a house "leave em its not worth it" one said to the other.

youd still pick an on the spot fine or a caution for smoking in public. understandable, i mean u get that for drinking alcohol so fairs fair.

theyve reclassified and upgraded it, it wont last but it gives the police more powers, so if your been an asshole they will drag u off under arrest for it.

the pot heads here are pretty chilled, as far as brits go that is lol. i like the scene. few spliffs.. followed by a munchy attack pop to shops.. music telly on and a few more spliffs round in someones garden/house. compare weeds, argue what best way to grow is, go home sides n cheeks aching from laughing

you know when theres good weed going about, no ones in trouble, everyone smiling. compare that to say a pile of amphetamine getting knocked out, fucking lunatics going off there heads, cop cars about, shit getting robbed left right n centre. same with benzodiazipines/valium/nitrazepam when that stuffs about mates r fighting with each other and so on.

growing a few plants has give a lot of swims an alternative to alcohol, pills, phet, and robbing to pay for their pleasure. and no one fights over whose got the most/best shit lol.

the coke sniffing politicians need to wise up.

Cops where I am from in the states, they don't do much..I will be on my front porch smoking a J and cops will drive right by.. In the county I live in, they don't really care though.. All they do is smoke it themselves after they smoke it. Most of them don't see a pesky teenager who is just going to give them more shit worthy of fucking with for a few hours, just for the fines.. If they do.. Then maybe if they smoked some pot, the stick would fall out of their ass.

I live in denmark, and Canabis is illegal.

But in Copenhagen, there is a place called christiania, and its a haven for canabis and its users.
There are booths all over Pusherstreet, and people buy and sell all forms of canabis openly.
the police cant stop them due to demands, and the occasional purge only stops the trade while the police is present.
everyone in there pretty much pisses on that law.

its pretty funny seeing a japanese tourist smoking some weed for the first time

Cops in my country do not notice marijuana or hash in most cases unless you are blatant about it. Then you get caught and you have to pay a fine. There are plenty of smokers in my city, several times few of us gather and smoke in the park. Otherwise most smokers smoke indoors.
