I want to throw some questions I hope you find interesting so if you have something to say discuss!

What are your thoughts on the idea of a interconnected global consciousness? impossible? the next step on evolution? I have been reading a lot of things that speak the same to me after filtering all through, and to me Earth as a whole is this superorganism that we are a part of and this idea can be seen from different approaches:

Earth's consciousness or the Gaian mind or "the other" ??? I know one can "feel" this other and perhaps psychedelics are a method of experiencing this entity in some way; are these substances in a symbiotic relationship with us?? :)

WE are interconnected and can develop a global brain perhaps through evolving through?? If you consider this crazy think about the fact that we are all communicating from different parts of the world right now through a global interconnected network of information aka the "internet"; this world wide web could be seen as a proto infrastructure for a noosphere???

I don't consider myself in any way an authority or something to that effect in these topics, that's why I made this thread, because I know all you have thought about this and perhaps have a word to say to me :)

There's a book called God's Debris and it's basically an idea that all the matter in the universe has a sole purpose to reform into one big entity. It uses examples like how you said we're all connecting with things like the internet. You might enjoy it. It's free here: http://fringe.davesource.com/Fringe/Ent ... Debris.pdf

As for your idea... it's possible, I guess. I mean, you're very right about how we're all connecting more communication-wise. Also, what happens with evolution (if you believe in it) is the general progression is more, small organisms are becoming fewer but bigger, more complex organisms. So maybe one day, we'll all be a one physical entity. :p

That's the guy that made Dillbert?? Thanks for the book I'll definitely read it!

well yes yes, we are evolving indeed, and evolution creates complexity, why you say "if you believe in it"? what's your stance?

I believe in it, I just don't know how many other people do. :p

And yes, it's by him. But it's totally a different style, lol; it's a 'thought experiment' he describes as like having your brain turned around in your skull, lol. It's the second book ever that I was able to finish in a day (I'm a slow reader -_-)

I think evolution it's not something to "believe" or not, to me it's like gravity... I bet when Newton was talking about this "mysterious force everywhere pulling us to the ground" people didn't "believe" in it, but oh well I guess that to coming generations it'll be as normal as gravity it's to us now

I say 'believe' to be politically correct. It's kind of awkward when I say "Evolution is real" and someone else says "Evolution is stupid"; everything flows nicer if we saw we believe or we don't believe in it. :p

well.... if I heard the guy saying "evolution is stupid" I wouldn't let it go like that  I'd ask him some things you know. I'm reading the book of the Dillbert guy, it's funny and interesting, thanks again :)

It might be that all human thought aspires and treads within lines which we can not readily fathom, and that this is the source of what we term "humanity".

I explain it as a prevailing pattern of behavior which up to this point has promoted enough stability within its separate cultures to have those cultures and thrive and live on.

Of course all vary in their interpretation.
I think there is an idea behind these interpretations, and I think Prisig stumbled on it in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

It's this concept of The Good, or an aspiration towards it, towards the Ideal which we always have in our heads and almost never in our hands. To me, this concept that I think you're thinking of is one possibly entirely philosophic, but like most things intellectual, is felt to be a real and true force.

I think increased communication hastens the realization of this concept, and is probably integral to the whole thing.
Ever see the last few episodes of Evangelion? Is synchronicity what you're thinking of?

I haven't seen the last episodes of Evangelion (what happens?) but I guess synchronicity comes to play, I mean we are building all this forms of communication and information exchanging platforms toward a more "synchronized" world, aren't we?

isn't internet exactly what you describe? It's just a question of internet needing to become more linked and even closer to us being able to directly acces internet.

well it's already that way in my opinion. imagine what an individual would be like with no other people. we need each other.
and through the internet communication and so on is a world wide thing.
humanity is kinda like mould, made out of billions of tiny spores.

compare humanity with the cells our bodies are made of. uncountable amounts of cells, kind of interacting with each other, etc. all these cells form the human body. we can speak, but the tiny cell in your tongue doesn't really know about it. it wouldn't be able to speak alone. it just helps. alone it would be worthless. - I think it is the same way with humanity. I have no idea what that could mean and such, but I like that comparison.

it is proven that some animals have this kind of "collective consious" through research. So why wouldnt we? still its somewhat a taboo..

anyway, i "believe" in it...

but, yes, we do have some sort of collective unconscious, like bees and ants, but do you think we'll actually develop a global network of shared consciousness of humanness?? :) One that is not divided by such things as nations and races but an all encompassing species shared network or "mind" that allows us to essentially be ONE.

Yes, the internet I think is bound to be the mechanism that eventually allow us to succeed in this, the book WetStaples shared says that that's our nature, to interconnect with one another; I hope this is the case so the mind leap to global awareness would be just a matter of time, imagine the human species acting as one conscious entity that through being in a global network (a super internet or something) takes decisions based on ALL the information available of ALL recorded history with the input of ALL of us!! pretty sweet if you ask me.

I want to hear some crazy theories about our planet being conscious -- Gaia -- and communicating with us in some level :D

I have had a most satisfying feeling of dying and my body returning to the earth whilst on LSD not that long ago. Makes me think along these lines :)

Edit: Thought I best let you'se know how I am thinking. I am thinking we are here on this planet, made by 1 god. I believe we are beings of light being projected into these body's, These bodys came from the land (Cell Evouloution) God made the earth and we chose to come here OR are here for redmeption. Either way I feel that we are here to gain an understanding, I hope in some way that once this life is over I and you may get the chance to be a creator, I wouldnt be disapointed if it wasnt so. I know what I say ties up with buddhism some what but I know too little about buddhism :(

I would love to know when we die we can find out what this life is all about :)

Peace out, Stay Safe

funny huh? a lot of people are shitscared about death but we are actually looking forward to it :)

Why fear the enevitable? Its going to happen and we are gonna be like "Fuck me side ways that was the most intense trip ever!!!"

I also feel the world as a whole does not function properly any more becuase of the fear, hatred and evil cultivated amongst the people by the governments.

I could never believe that any one God, Holy or not could condem people in this world. We are being turned into slaves, By religion, By Money and worldly possesions.

I do not long to die but will await the day with no fear.

Peace out, Stay safe

The Gaian mind is real for sure..
Alltrough i feel it as real, the earth as a collective of beeings.
This collective of beeings is mother earth at the same time, and maybe the force behind a mushroom trip when you encounter the Other.

Also that this Gaian mind maybe is a main base of knowlege where we can plug in if we hook up on the hyperdimentional highway of psychedelics.
That force that shows/teaches you the values of life.

As far of a collective mind i think its possible that it is our next step in
evolution, so that we eventually dont need psychedelics anymore for collecting knowlege, it becomes something permanent.

2012 who knows?

Edit: Through meditating you can also experience earth as a force or entidy.

The universe is an infinitely immense, novelty creating and conserving organism. It has an interconnected omnipotent psyche, which is itself infinity. This is hyperspace and is the nova point for all consciousness and experience unto itself. The Gaian mind is but one body amongst an unlimited array of others within itself and throughout the cosmos, meaning that each dimensionally finite perception of a whole is in fact a culmination of infinitely smaller parts and makes up an infinitely larger entity. The only real finite article is the perception of infinity within a physical dimension.
The purpose of life is the purpose of the universe itself, constructing, enriching and experiencing infinite novelty.

Misery, you got it my man. Even though you only touched the surface of this concept, you have the underlying systemic principles right. Everything is alive, and everything is both individual and a part of a greater or smaller whole which is in itself, an organism; this continues on into eternity and there is no ultimatum point where creation or being ends or begins. Each coalesced point is an entity, with its own collective mind in and out of itself; within this are organs on its dimension yet individual organisms within their own perceptual proportion. It’s a fractal my friends.

We are already one, the only separation is in the perceptual framework of our existence, and how we have been conditioned to perceive other bodies as separate or have specific function, dimension and perception according and relating to us. This is a fallacy and a miasma of mankind. To think we are special or in any way separated from infinity is a defilement of our situate, and perception of that situate, within the universe. One of the many things that the psychedelic experience shows us is that we are not separate at all, and that dimension and perception is boundless. We are reasserted to some degree into the ever-present flow of infinite hyperspace from which all being is born and returns, through this, enriching ourselves and the infinite with creation and novelty.

So you see, we are already connected in a single mind; the only evolutionary change would be to deconstruct the millennia of corrupt societal devolutionary influence of false perception, intellect and information that deprives one of the realisation of this infinite connection with themselves and there surroundings. This revival of the archaic, psychedelic union is but one part of our impending transcendence back to our purpose and away from the plight of segregation.

Peace.

Ahh I always enjoy reading your posts, thanks for sharing :)

What I find the most awesome and beautiful is that when one looks around a bit the macrocosm and the microcosm we see what we're talking about here, I see the structure of an atom and the way galaxies spin toward a nucleus, the self similarity of snowflakes and the leaves and branches of a tree, the surface of mountains, our neurons and the way we are connected through the internet, a mushroom and our own reproductive organs and many more things!

As above, so below :D

you know what's funny? the universe itself looks like neurons :)
