This is rather funny... The word Mumu developed as a cuddly name "Muschi" a german equivalent of "pussy" meaning cat and vagina the same time (which is funny enough, that this exists in the absolute same form in english as in german).
Now I learn, that Mumu is a sort of artefact, that represents the vagina. Really funny.
And somehow I has to think about the Mumins (anybody?), a childhood memory...

One day i was tired of my student number 0754724 and figured i could use something else for an alias. I wanted to come up with a name that didn't exist already so I'd create a new word and I would be able to fill the meaning in myself with the work i make.
So I came up with 'skrudge', which could have been a verb as well.
Then , a couple of weeks later, a friend of me told me it was an anagram of drugs + k (K is the first letter of my last name). I never thought of that until that day, and since that day I've been using it as my alias and company name.
Later after doing some searching on google I found out it was a word in the hackers dictionary. I can't find it anymore, but it said something like 'a process created out of spare parts or ghost coding which works, but was never intended to'

When I started using the Internet I wrote everything under my full name (Ivar Verploegh). I did that for several years, from 1995 until 2006. Even all my public 9/11 rants up until 2006 had been done under my real name. In April 2006 I became a member of MySpace and at first registered under my real name. It was around that time that I first saw the Pharmacratic Inquisition video (the lecture version). Hermes is said to carry the winged, serpent entwined staff called the caduceus, and Hermes is also known as the god Mercurius. Since Mercury is a rather prominent planet in my horoscope I've often been described as a mercurial person: changeable, moving about a lot, involved with languages, writing and translation, having a young appearance, and so forth. The caduceus is very similar to an Egyptian sign I had been considering having as a tattoo on my back.
So then I was reading some website on alchemy, and there was mention of an alchemist from the 19th century who went by the name Caduceus Mercurius. And so I decided to go by that name, and changed my name first on MySpace, then on the Monster Magnet forum. On the MM forum I was now known as Caduceus Mercurius and my position was first "regular user" (the default setting), then after some months "pinealjerker", a word based on "tearjerker" and the DMT-related pineal gland. I joined this forum using Pinealjerker as the primary name, but I found it too frivolous for some of my more serious posts. And so after two months or so I became CaduceusMercurius, also known as CM, the curious duce, or simply duce. 8)
