honestly i can't think of any big mainstream bands in the past decade that i like, and i have tried. a lot of new mainstream just seems to be simplified, watered down ripoffs of earlier, better music.
there's some mainstream music in the 80s and early 90s i could get into (eg my bloody valentine), but after that..
i still listen to a LOT of new music, from all genres. the internet is great, it gives good musicians a real voice while the big labels slowly fade away, living off teen pop stars.
