In my very humble opinion you've got it all wrong.

Opinions are great when the facts don't speak for themselves but in this case, they do.

You've got the ones that say: "Who really gives a crap about who Jesus was, what he did and if he even existed. The story about him in the bible gives me good guidelines to live by and help me being more loving to others and all that stuff.

That's not a Christian but someone who is a nice person and finds inspiration between the lines of a fucked up book because it's the first place people in our society look at generally on a spiritual/religious path. Name one that you personally know that calls him/herself a Christian and told you he doesn't believe Jesus was real. If you do, I take back my words. But you won't, I'm quite sure of that.

The most liberal Christians you have in Holland would be people in 'Easter' communities'. To the outside world, these communities look like free, loving communities where people are chilled out about all that heavy stuff in the bible and all is just about love.

But they aren't, they are not open minded about the bible and the existance of Jesus, not open minded at all about entheogens and they still believe they go to heaven and all of us go to hell.

Someone who doesn't believe in Jesus, is not a Christian because believing in Jesus in inherent in being a Christian.

Even if you are right and a small percentage exists that indeed feels as you say about it, how would make that my point 'all wrong'? I mean where did we change 'exceptions confirm the rule' the other way around :P

Our prime ministers said a week ago :'You cannot function in politics unless you are a christian.'.

And besides this twaddle he also had additional information about what he wished everyone on this Sunday. Like we're awake at that moment of the day. Or should be.

In fact, they still try to convince parents to wake their childeren and erase their Saturday night, do their hair and wake up early to get a glance of Christian norms. Or worse, attend ceremonies in Church. I also have to make objection about his party and their ambition to inject 'norms'.

Basically this religion still forces others to fall for their convinction with trying to imply that if one doesn't join, he can't function properly. Nice try to make people feel guilty.

Religion is still an evil power to control the population. And it's an excessive shame that our Prime Minister came up with such a wack proununciation. Really made me worry.

I could start out by naming for example my mother. Then I could continue by bringing my father into this, but that would be too easy now would it?
Anyway I guess I stated it wrong about you being all wrong. You're probably (probably because calling something absolutely sure would be about as silly as thinking some d00der created the earth in 6 days) right about the bible being fiction. My point was more aimed towards the use of proving wether or not the bible is historical/fictional. I really fail to see the use of discussing this. There are a couple of facts we can probably agree on, and among those will be that there are in fact alot of people who believe in (parts of) this book called the bible. Telling them (or in fact anyone else) it's fictional time and time again really won't make the world a better place. What would is if we were to try and work stuff out as a society. Sadly the fact that there are alot of people who fail at putting this in perspective and through that take religion (or not having religion/bashing religion) too far and create a not so friendly environment for eachother. And they polute my karma with lots of negative energy, so I have to scrub really hard to get it clean and white again a li'
:(

Lot's of love to y'all.

Does it really matter if Jesus was real or not? I mean: you cannot change the fact that a lot of people do believe this by reasoning with them. To these people Jesus is more real than your logic. And if Jesus (or 'Jesus') has a positive influence on their lives, I'm happy to let them be. Talk to people in a language they understand, even if you don't agree with their beliefs. If you don't, they'll start believing harder and become more fundamentalist, so you actually reach the opposite of your goal.

My point in a nutshell! :)

Yea let's put our mother into the discussion...what is the value of that?

Really I do not have a problem with any religion, not even christians. However, the situation is that there is no mutual respect. Why is it important to know if Jesus was real or not? Because you and my rights to direct religious experience is being denied by christian politics, put in place by your mother, my inlaw parents, my ex wife etc... Christians. Ignorance is no excuse to put people in prison for opposing believe systems.

Putting people in jail because of a believe system, is a valid reason to question that specific believe system.

So I'm really going to leave this discussion with my final point of view:

The real Jesus.

You asked me for an example, I gave it to you. In what way the example is linked to me is not important.
Basically, as we seem to be ending this discussion I'd like to make clear that I have only been trying to oppose your opinion to sharpen my own, and hopefully yours. Because that's really the constructive thing I try to take from every discussion and hope to give in every discussion.

Bless an' love

Hey Silv,

I was was not here to sharpen my opinion, not with this subject, I was here to show you how it is. Debating about the good side of Christianity is like debating about the good side of fascism. Note that I do not talk about people here, but the believe system itself.

I love to argue/discuss/sharpen my opinion regarding entheogens but christianity, nothing good came from it and nothing ever will. it is literary the root of all evil. And you should educate your mother to not vote christian politics again, the same way I try to educate my parent inlaws not to vote to take my freedom away.

If we don't do that, we are not worth shit in my opinion.

In the name of this retarded believe system, you and I are made criminals. THAT fact should be enough for people NOT to defend fucking christianity here on THIS site but to understand it for what it is.

It's really frustrating to get into these discussions with people who haven't got a real clue about the real history of christianity, the bible, the witch hunts etc.. For the record, before I saw 'the light', I was a christian myself so I kind of know what I am talking about, more than average anyway.

And what do you get here?:

'Well we should try to see the real message in the bible'

which proves people haven't got the slightest clue but are just babbling and repeating what they think the bible is about.

Really......

It frustrates the hell out of me..... What do we need? Another burning at the stakes until your eyes are opening?

Ignorance is never an excuse.

Note the first picture which I added in case people find my art tasteless. This is just one example of heretics (thats ALL of us here folks...) at the stake. It is said the woman gave birth while the fire burned and the baby was thrown back in the fire. This is just one example of this filthy believe system which is claiming to be based on the love of God for 2000 fucking years.

And this is not ancient history, not at all. Au contrary, less then ten years ago a very popular television minister in the States blamed 911 on gays and pagans (we are ALL pagans here folks) on national television, with millions of viewers. And this is not an exception at all, they are in war with all of us here. We are the guys that their believe system claim to be there enemy. We are the devils work, we communicate with him, we adore him etc... In their eyes, of course.....

I never choose to be in war with anybody, it's them who keep fiddling with my life, my rights, my values.

This crazy sickness has to be stopped.

Well I could get into a really philosophical discussion about how it is, subjectivity, objectivity, but I won't. I'm sad you have such a fundamentalist approach to this subject but I'm cool with that. Will make it alot easier on which discussions can be interesting and which won't (= I won't end them while having learned something).

Edit: I also don't recall mentioning anyones (let alone my mothers) political choice. I do recall mentioning some peoples religion, but that does not equal a political choice (thank my flying spaghetti monster).

Now I am the fundamentalist here, I knew this was coming.....

You called for this on yourself by coming here without backing it up, telling me I am ALL wrong. The thing is, you are blinded by your culture and not realizing it.

I wouldnt care one fucking minute of my life about Christianity if they would leave me/us alone. But they don't. Its often hard to look beyond the boundaries of our own culture to realize the obvious truth:

Christianity still is, always was and ever will be waging war against us. And if you think that is a fundamentalist way of looking at it, check this out my friend:

I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all
alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and
children since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion?

To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support rogery and error all over the earth.

Thomas Jefferson

Answer me this please:

1) What good things did Christianity bring us
2) How long do women have voting rights
3) How long do homosexuals have rights at all in our culture.
4) Since how long are we allowed to practice entheogenic shamanism in our culture?

Look careful at these four points and then ask yourself, what exactly is currently happening with these values which are just common sense to most of us? And who is actually messing with these values?

And if you look at Jeffersons quote, can you really in all honesty still say I am wrong? I mean, if you don't give up your sacrament soon or make work in hiding it, you will be fined and/or imprisoned, as is the case since the last 2000 years

And you call me a fundamentalist. I do expect an apology for that or I'm done talking with you since I am attacking your ideas, and not you personally.

Christinity is designed to have people live in fear and to dis empower them. Fear of thinking about certain things is part of that design. Its ingenious in some way but there is no doubt about it that this is the case.

Here's a quote from a brilliant book that lays a lot of these issues out:

The majority of humankind's history with spiritual plants has been spent viewing them as sacred, not immoral. Yet for the last two thousand years, religious institutions and governments have ignored this history and waged war against spiritual plants and altered states of consciousness. today, elitist groups of politicians and clergy , meeting in secret chambers and assuming authority over nature's bounty, have decided for everyone which plants are to be good and which are to be bad. Meanwhile, many of these authorities must have their coffee, tobacco, zoloft and alcohol. Some are being caught with straws up their nose as well. Yet, they decide for everyone else which plants are good and against which to wage war.

Went on a search after the byebye and bye thread you started. Look closely at what silv said: he didn't call you a fundamentalist, he called your approach fundamentalistic. So he's attacking your ideas, not you personally.
