Sorry for last post.
I was little bit drunk and very tired! Thats why I wrote such sentences, without head or tail. Simple-Bad English.
What I am telling U(now and yesterday) bout cacti and regrowing?
First it doesn't matter how big are your roots, remains of cacti. Main thing is that U have them!(not thrown away or been destroyed so badly)
Peyote cacti after 3 years will for sure give one sprout. Under that age can't tell with 100% accuracy. But under one year, seed grown cacti have maybe, but maybe only 25% chance to keep new sprouts coming.
Also for Pedro? Pedro have wider roots then Peyote in first 5-10 years but also sustainable thicker and smaller. After that roots explode in Pedro cacti, but that isn't question here.
WHAT I AM TELLING U TO DO!
WITH BOTH CACTI, U NEED TO DO THIS, IF U WANT NEW SPROUTS AND AS MANY IS POSSIBLE! :!: 8)
First remove some sand/earth soil of cacti remains. See how deep wound/s is/are. IF U HAVE ANY GREEN TISSUE LEFT ON CACTI MEASURE POINT FROM TOP OF IT TO LOWER POINT WHERE CACTI TURNS TO BROWN OR WOOD LIKE TISSUE. WHEN U END WITH THAT CALCULATE WHERE IS FIRST CLEAR UNTOUCHED "LAYER" OF CACTI TISSUE. I MEAN THAT WHEN U CUT OFF UPPER TOP UNDER IT U WILL HAVE FLAT SURFACE! THAT'S YOUR STARTING POINT!
Also tell me how warm is now at your place? Temperature in °C. And from now. Cause it's not wise to cut off anything before daily temp. over 10-14 and night temp. below 6-10! Cause cacti is still hibernating in time with such temp! If U think that artificial light and temp will help? WRONG!!! This is cacti natural clock! So do not rush it! Only damage could be done! No good!
But when temp rise to mentioned U will need to do this. LISTEN CAREFULLY!!!! :!: :!:
Cut remaining in shape of "volcano"! I mean by this that U will first find flat layer where cacti isn't damaged. Healthy cacti always haves green body inside! Like tree! Brown outside and green healthy look inside.
And then cut of cacti in shape of volcano. But very little!!! Maybe 3mm to 8mm. Depends how big it was at first place! What U are trying to do? Curve up small depression inside cacti, but do not cut brown part! Brown part or "bark-skin"!
Sprouts-new cacti comes op from thin layer of that barkskin. First skin rise little bit and rounds up into depression which cacti is going to do by itself. U are only helping him and speeding up regrowing process. Also when U are doing this "speeding up" U have 50%(minimal!!) that your cacti will produce more then one sprout! And also better chance of survival. Cause U cant never know what will be at the end after such damage.
One more tip:
Try to leave as mush is possible cacti tissue above soil level. Better chances U have that way to succeed in your goal! Also do not water it first month. Only if U see sprouts in that time. Also cacti needs only little bit of water cause nothing exist above roots to absorb it and consumed it.
WONDER IF THIS IS HELPFUL ENOUGH?
I KNOW MILLIONS OF LITTLE "GIMMICKS" AND "TRICKS" WHAT TO DO IN CERTAIN PART OF TIME OR PROBLEM. SO WHEN I SOW YOUR ENTHUSIASTIC HELLO I DECIDE TO HELP U AS MUCH AS I CAN.
