Stonerrock, anyone?

One more from tonight/this morning...

The quintessential get stoned song from my time in the 70's...

Joe Walsh - Turn to Stone

Which I try to do as often as I can...

Funkadelic and their classic tune...
Maggot Brain

"For I knew I had to rise above it all...or drown in my own shit"

I posted that one in the funk thread. A classic indeed!

Last night we watched Jack Black's School of Rock. My kids loved it, and so did I!

Here's a bonus clip from that movie, Jack begging Lep Zeppelin to use their tune and singing the Immigrant Song. And fuck Warner Music for taking some of the best music (and videos!) from YouTube!

You know I've been meaning to watch that movie I just haven't got around to it. With the strong recommendations from you and restin it has now made my list.

And don't get me started with WMG!!! As I posted over @ You Tube;

You Tube + Warner Music = utterly clueless

Thanks for the link I'll check out the funk thread too... 8)

Someone told me about 35007, a band from the Netherlands. Spark one up and watch this:

Tsunami

The Melvins are an epic band.

Looking forward to seeing Monster Magnet on an openair this summer

As far as The Melvins go I am often times guilty of understatement...yeah one of the great bands. Love the stuff they did with Jello, formerly of the Dead Kennedys, too.

You a MM fan too restin? Fucking-A cool!! It was through our shared love of MM's music that I met Caduceus. I am so fucking pumped to be seeing them in New Jersey on May 16th it is beyond words...one of only 2 US shows they currently have scheduled. I'd love to be able to see them in an open air venue. 8)

Now on DoseNation:

Mastodon on acid

Many bands claim to be psychedelic rock, but Mastodon actually lobbies for the title. From an article in the April 16, 2009, issue of Rolling Stone:

The Mastodon brain trust of Hinds and Dailor get their weird lyrical ideas the old fashioned way: "It comes from us doing too much acid," Hinds says. "Acid is the best drug in the world. It did the most amazing things for my creative psyche, and it still is doing things for me."

Seeking refuge from an operatically awful childhood, drummer-lyricist Dailor tripped almost nonstop from the age of 14 until his early 20s. "I went to high school on acid," he recalls. "Droppers filled with liquid acid on my tongue and just going for it, fully exiting what I consider to be an earthly plane. And when the acid wore off, I had a connection with that kind of music, with Frank Zappa and Yes and King Crimson."

Mastodon - Blood and Thunder

Mastodon - Sea Beast

Mastodon - Iron Tusk

Wow, I like them! Too bad the sound quality sucks at YouTube. Here's their MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/Mastodon Nice, trippy graphics. Ah, good sound quality! Hell yes!!
