Hello All,

In August I injected a grow bag with shroom spores. For several weeks nothing happened, and I was about to throw the bag out when about two weeks ago I noticed the mycelium (sp?) starting to show. Is there any way I could get the process speeded up. So far I have the grow bag in my closet, in the dark, and the weather is starting to cool as we shift into fall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends what they are and what and how much substrat is in your bag . Also how wet or dry the substrat is . Some mushrooms can take months to take hold. Are there pin holes in the bags to allow a gas exchange ? A temperature of 20 - 25 c usualy does myceleum good . More info might help me to help you .

I have millet and other ingredients for the substrates. I obtained the spores from a reputable seller. The spores I obtained were called A+, labled as very easy for the beginner, which I am. Substrate is in a specialized grow bag which allows for injection of the spores and a special filter to allow for air exchange. I only pick up the bag to inspect the growth progress.

Maybe if you told me where you got your instructions on how to do it i could read it and help a bit more . What is the latin name of the mushrooms that you are trying to grow ? Its probably Psilocybe Cubensis . Is the substrat steralised ? Is it wet enough ? Tap water is not so good , you should let it stand overnight before you use it , or better use distilled or demineralised water . Hanging it up would do it good because every time you pick it up to look you rough it up a bit wich doesnt help . If it hangs you can see if something is growing just by turning the bag round without doing any damage to it .How often have you picked it up ?.Where did you get your substrate , bio shops are the best source . What is the temperature in the closet ? If its not warm enough that could be the cause of the slow growth .Have you had a look at PF Tek . its about the best way to do it and the web site contains lots of info . Whatever happens dont throw it away unless it starts to stink or you can see that it is contaminated . Dont worry , have patience .
