interesting you say Cyans are native. im going to have to get to know them a bit then ill go look for them. if i understand there is 1 deadly species they can be mistaken for

There are several that look similar and grow near them and even in the midst of them , but they dont have a thick white stringy stem and dont bruise blue .

They are not common in some places but they do grow near you somewhere . Try looking where wood has been shreded .

its a stab in the dark but ive got seen something similar

if they are the same ones they are all over the place

Nups , not it , but looks similar . Look at the stems , they should be white and stringy a bit like the inside of a banana is stringy .

Drugless, nice pic :) Have you already been back for looking at the stems?

Today i had nothing to do, so i thought i am going to a dyke near my home. Although i could not find any mushrooms, i think this would be the right spot to look again in September and November. There was so much sheep dung, that if this is not the right place, i am just to blind to find the howly mushrooms.

I have sited over there for a hour, watching the sheep's shitting like machines :P And while i was observing the sheep's i came up with a question. Sheep's eat a lot of grass, would they also eat the mushrooms that are growing near there own dung? :?:

Greets,
Mystic.

they normally eat round patches of mushrooms. if there are little patches of uneaten grass in a field of sheep its a good place to look for mushrooms. most sheep avoid them but some of the more primitive breeds of sheep will eat them. if there are tracks where the sheep habitually walk, sheep paths, thats another good place to look. i think the sheep walk the spores about so some areas get more spores.
cold rain <6deg. C seems to trigger the mushrooms to fruit

the Psilocybe semilanceata are up now. swims best friend going to be out of his head in 2 hours or so.

Wow great tips man! You britts now a lot about the Semilanceata huh?

Well with all this information this might be my first year of succesful mushroom hunting(if you don't count amanita's).

Which species besides semilanceata will/might I be able to find here in Holland?

Also; I've seen a lot of mushrooms that resemble the semilanceata, they grow in grass, bellshaped cap, dark spores etc... I am sure there not semilanceata's though because of the cap(near the stem I doesn't fold towards the stem) and the nipple(it's not that signature tiny nipple, but a larger nipple) any ideas?

Happy hunting! peace!

there are a few you could possibly mistake untill you get used to looking
mainly paneolus sp.

"Which species besides semilanceata will/might I be able to find here in Holland? "

Nothing with a Psilocybin content worth picking .

Semilanceata bruise blue when you squeeze the stem....... but dont squeeze anything unless you are sure it is one . The fotos in wiki are good to get an idea of how they look . Allthough there is a lot of variation in the colour between wet ones and not wet ones .

At drugless: I'm quite sure I've seen the second and the third, isn't the second one foeniseccii?

At God:Doesn't the foeniseccii specie contain enough psilocybin to be worth picking?

And cyans in Holland too hard to find? or not there at all?

Peace.

IMO the only one worth picking is Psilocybe semilanceata. the others just dont contain any real amounts of psilocin/cybin. all you will get is an "almost" feeling like you may be coming up but you wont get there. also, the more species you look for the greater the chances of making a mistake in identification.
if you find P.semilanceata you will normally find groups of them together, making picking them more rewarding
