Why do so many people say that life is an illusion? I don't get it. Life is life and illusions are illusions. Illusions are part of life. But life is not an illusion, it is reality, and so is everything else. Even if it's only a concept that doesn't make sense, because it has been created in a mind. It's a bit like drugless said, you see what you want to see. You create whatever you want where you want, the only limits are the dimensions of the place where you create.

Life is a mystery.

I <3 mysteries.

Well we invented the word "reality" to give name to the world as we percieve it.
Why would you step away from that simple concept? If life is an illusion, the word real holds no more meaning, and the word illusion is pulled out of context. It makes no sense to me. I think it just sounds cool but that it is a stupid statement.

This is why I have chosen not to believe in solipsism per se. I don't find it to be a constructive system by which to live my life. I could be completely wrong of course. I could be jacked into the matrix. I could be a manifestation of a deity or cosmic force perceiving the world. I could be a dream. It is all possible. Africa might not exist. I've never seen it. I could go on and on. In the end there is no proof either way, I concede.

But I'm here and now, and I want to make the best of it. Objective reality seems to have consistent rules that I can test, observe, measure and partially understand. Actions have consequences; my actions perceivably affect others around me. If a friend is hurt, I feel emotional pain. If I stub my toe, I feel physical pain. "Real" or not.

I guess I feel life is about the journey, what I make of it, what I can learn from it and get out of it. Along the way, any chances to learn and debate about the greater mysteries are always a good thing.

That's what has worked for me so far. Other's mileage may vary.

Well, that's just, like, your 'opinion' man.

The meaning of life (monty python):

Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy, which, it seems, the only way, these days, to get the jaded, video-sated public off their fucking arses and back in the sodding cinema. Family entertainment, bollocks! What they want is filth! People doing things to each other with chainsaws during Tupperware parties. Babysitters being stabbed with knitting needles by gay presidential candidates. Vigilante groups strangling chickens, armed bands of theatre critics exterminating mutant goats… Where's the fun in pictures? Oh, well, there we are. Here's the theme music. Goodnight.

Sounds a bit like me.........

I don't have to say much, i can make a long story, but my thoughts are already explained by some of you.

GhostlyOne17, maybe it sounds stupid. But your words where magical on my mind. I loved it, and i will look out to your posts in the future! Nice done!!!

That's all i had to say ;)

Greets,
Mystic.

I was at last inspired to wade through all of David icke's Secrets of the Matrix the last few days.

He, in part 3 goes on about his Ayahuasca trip, and how it confirms to him that what we are seeing, even sun, moon, etc is a holographic illusion.

Well I say Bullcrap to that. He is full a shite. Real shite.

I thought the Holographic theory was bunk until iamshaman.com messed up my order and sent me The Holographic Universe by Micheal Talbot. I was going to send it back but I started to read it and kept it. Although like I said, I do not limit myself to just that...

mysticwarrior, I too have appreciated your words on this forum. Greets to you too!

Yeah. not to limit yourself to ANy theory. That is cool. It is like that we have theories, and tend to think linearly, but Nature the universe eats all that 8)
