Hey, if you do use nutes, make sure to at least cut the dosage in half, because loph's really don't need much (but have the nutes include calcium)

Oh and statistically, I got to say, it's more likely a caesposita than a cristata. Then again, you just be super lucky.

Hi
I dont think it is a Lophophora williamsii v caespitosa because the parents of these cacti are not. I dont know how cristata grow, i've only seen the pictures of older ones. The fact that it has two grow points makes it difrent from the rest(about 25other baby peyote) so i was wondering what it was called when it does(have two grow points).

I also have bought me a little sack of cacti seed from the grossery store. You can buy it everywhere where they sell little bags of seeds from tomato to carrots and suchs. These cacti seeds are sown on a bed of cacti ground and where held moist in the first 5weeks and almost all seeds have grown to be little cacti(wíth spikes). All of them show two little "leaves" and then spikes in the middle exept one! That has 3 of these "leaves". Maybe i'll post a picture if i can get a clear image.

Caespitosa's are a variety of williamsii, so I don't think the parents have to be caep specifically. The reason why I think it's a Caep is because the shape of the seedlings is still round, whereas the cristata is usually in a more linear fashion. That being said I would boil it down to this: Either way, you're a proud parent of either a rare genetic twist (although some have speculated that cristatas come from a cacti being hit by lightening... pretty sure that didn't happen) or a pup-factory. Great collection over all. I seriously will get over this laziness and post a few soon.

Ill check on my cacti tonight after work, since I'm growing multiple variations of Lopho's. I do recognize the way it grows. I've had two 2 days old seedlings which grew together into one..I'll show some photo's this evening.

As promised, uploaded a few photos. I'm really not liking this Flickr thing so if anyone has suggestions to post photos securely elsewhere, I'd greatly appreciate the advice.

Anyways:

So if you take a look at label 1-3, that's a small cristata (although obviously no where near a seedling). If you look at 2 you can clearly see the linear growth I was talking about, where there's really no two semi-seperate heads. But if you look at 3 on the bottom right, there is more definition between the two heads. Compare that to the Caespitosa in 4-5, and maybe you're right, and your little guy is a cristata. I just automatically kind of think of Caesp's as clumping, so might of jumped the gun. Oh well, a few more years and we'll know for sure :D slow little buggers...

Last few are of a flowering texenisis. I'll post more of them later.

Mine looks like this one! Now i know its a cristata 8) super happy with it!
The pup in the middle has the exact apperance of my baby exept a few years older!

Very nice to hear. This means that you may have a future mother to graft cristata pups with. Imagine a room just full of will cristata's that's got to be some sort of peyote delicacy...

not yet.
my guess is before the end of this year i have tried some dried peruvianus skin.

CUT OFF SOME NEW CRISTATE SPROUTS AND PROPAGATE THEM. I SEE NORMAL CACTI GROWING OUT. SO IT'S BIG POSSIBILITY THAT MORE WILL BECOME "NORMAL". HAVE U BOUGHT SUCH CACTI OR THIS HAPPENS AFTER CUTTING OFF? :?:
