music in your head

I know everyone is musical at some extent but I consider my mind well versed in cool sounds

Do you often play songs you like in your head? I not only do this but also mix songs (more than 2 sometimes) and I'm proud of it, also sometimes I'm able to create new music if under the appropriate mood and circumstances, also this ability increases while high (obviously) but the thing is now I'm able to do it sober and it's very nice though sometimes I get distracted in the middle of a class because I want to continue experimenting with the musical patterns...

If I'm in my "zone" I can create some very trippy, intricate and sometimes shpongle-like music with piano, guitars, metal drums and saxophones

I wish other people could be able to hear all this, perhaps in the future there'll be a method for this? I certainly hope so, imagine downloading music straight from you favorite artist's brain

You guys are lucky, I can only do this while lucid dreaming. It's always great, I can make any musical genre, even symphonic orchestra But it's pretty rare when this happend.

I've found the ideal conditions for me an afternoon after night of blazing (when high it's cool but too uncontrollable) and in a place with no outer stimuli (sp?), oh and a good mood...

you should try with an easy to remember sound of a song you like (like the bass line from the National Anthem?) and then merging it with the ambient/effects of another song

Fruity Loops is called FL Studio nowadays

FL is nice to explore if making music is something for you, but there may come a time when you want to explore "more professional" software

Ontopic: Yeah I have the same thing, when I don't have music around I just play something or make my own in my head.
Usually it's a lot better then the stuff I produce in real life :mrgreen:

ableton live is waaayyy better for mixing.


tried the mixing today, it's pretty funny works well.
edit: I just realised that this may be misunderstood. I mean mixing in my head

in ableton or in my head?
in ableton I usually mix psytrance or breakcore. psytrance couldn't work any better, because of the timestretching in live, you can make two psytrance tracks sync up together with no problems.

Does your ability to create mind music suffers from your mood?

I have found that when I'm in a really good mood is when it flows naturally and is generally better, sweeter. If I'm in a bad mood my efforts aren't that productive... so a healthy mind is necessary for creating good music, any musician to prove/disprove me? although this is rather obvious, it goes too for a lot of activities...

i am a musician, and i far as i know, depression always aided creativity! for me and for so many others. i guess it depends on the personality.

Anyone know what is the cause of hearing music in your head? I always had this as far as I can remember. But before it was just like, sometimes a song would stick into my head for no reason for a day or two, the rest of the time no music in my head. It all changed when I took ecstasy for the first time. All day long I could hear a techno sound I had listened to in the morning very clearly in my head. Since then I seem to have an incredible capacity of hearing music in my head, if I close my eyes, lie down and concentrate, I can hear sounds almost as clearly as if it was real, and I constantly have a song running in my head.

Well, yeah, I guess it depends on the person, if I'm depressed/bad mood then no music at all...

The cause for music in our heads? our brain must really like it! really I don't know, but why not? music is patterns and pattern recognition it's an important ability to have developed, in specially us, very visual beings. So I guess the brain it's showing off
