I have a few questions about 'Wild Mushrooms'

Alright, so me and my friend have been talking about it for a while now, and we decided that we are going to try shrooms for the first time, but don't wanna pay for them. =P

So basically my questions are..

1. I know that shrooms are found under or around animals dung that graze on grass, is this true?

2. Are there certain ways to tell whether the mushroom is actually a magic mushroom or poisonous mushroom?

3. Do these have different effects than like home-grown shrooms?

4. Lastly, is it a felony to pick or take shrooms in the USA?

1, don't be an idiot.
2,yes by being very informed with the subject, it is a very dangerous task
3,depends which strain you pick, some are stronger and some equal to the ones you grow. Usually same potency unless some external factors degrade or increase the potency. but generally the same.
4, yes you can get in trouble. It is actually absurd they can do anything. But be careful

please don't pick wild mushrooms without an expert, it is dangerous,

I'm going to try them for the first time sometime pretty soon myself

-first off, let me tell you that it would be much safer to go with home grown [esp. if you dont know what you're doing] -it usually isnt too hard to get them through someone and they really shouldnt be too expensive- nothing that you cant make or gather up fairly easily.
but if you wish-

1. mhm.

2. there are several guide books that you can purchase that help you identify them, but it isnt easy if you're a n00b, and the ones that kill you aren't so hard to mix up with the ones that you trip on.....

3. I dont know myself (and I'm not about to be pretentious and pretend I know what I'm talking about) , but a great place for mushie info is The Shroomery forum (google it) -they're experts on all this and have FAQ's for questions like yours that are fantastic.

4. yeah! it's all really illegal, and owning, consuming, or selling can get you in pretty big trouble. I mean come on...

it sounds like you aren't too well informed
make sure you look into everything before you trip

Thanks for the help guys.

I actually spent most of my day on the shroomery website, looking up all the basics and what-not I'm just going to go picking today then take pictures and spore prints of all the mushrooms that I found and hopefully someone will be able to identify them for me.

Please be careful, do a lot of research, not only on the psychoactive species but the deadly ones. You want to be able to identify both. Also tip of advice. I have found deadly mushrooms growing side by side with psychoactive species, so if you find a big patch don't expect them all to be of the same. Deadly ones sometimes grow within the patch so please carefully inspect each one.
