Hi, I was wondering how long that dried mushrooms can be preserved, and wich ways are the best to keep them potent, also, can you see it when they have turned bad?

I was thinking to put them all in air-tight jars, but I have no clue how long that I can use them after that...

After around 6 months, potency starts to decrease. To make the best of them, put them in a ziplock back, and then the ziplock back in a brown bag, tap around it. This will prevent any light from destroying the Psilocybin. Then stash it somewhere dark, and on the cooler side. Heat will eventually degrade Psilocybin.

PEACE & LOVE

Have them as dry as possible, in baggies, in air (and preferably water) tight jars, with a small amount of desiccant in the bottom. Then store the jars in a cool dry place, out of light. They should stay viable for a long time this way.

Allright, thank's a lot! :D

ps: is it ok to store them in a fridge?

^ yes, but you should make sure that no form of water can come near the shrooms.

:D
Ok, I'll dry them cracker-dry, I'll put them in strip-bags, I'll tape alluminium foil around them, put them in air-water-tight jars, and store them in the fridge till I'll need them.
:D Thanks!

Lots of info, depending on how far you want to go and how long you want to save them.

What I'd do is dry them until they are brittle with a fan or heat disabled dehydrator then dessicant, then put them in a zip lock bag. Suck all the air out of the bag with a straw and zip it up as you withdraw the straw. (poor mans vacuum seal) Tape over the top of the bag with clear packing tape to make sure the zip doesn't leak. Label with date and weight. Put bags into canning jars, and put canning jars into freezer.

Cracker dry -> freezer -> good for at least a year, probably more but I haven't tried to keep them longer.

Just make sure they are really cracker dry before putting them in the freezer. I pack them in a box shielded from light also while in the freezer.

Yeaaaah, Heartcore!!! :P :P

Let's say you can only manage to store some dried shrooms in a cool, dark place (not a fridge/freezer or anything good like that): do you guys think water- and air- tight seals would cut it for half a year?
If not, how long do you guys think that would last, about? I want to buy shrooms in bulk so that I don't become a poor man.

Another question:

I bought some Blow Off duster today which contains tetrafluorethane and petroleum hydrocarbon. I was going to use this to rinse out oxygen, because I know the first chemical is denser than oxygen and doesn't diffuse through plastic, but now I'm not so sure if the other stuff, petroleum hydrocarbon will damage the shrooms... Am I better off to just do a normal poor-man vacuum seal or can one of you say with enough confidence that it'll be fine?

If it is harmful, could I still put sealed plastic bags (with the mushrooms in) inside a bottle full of the stuff to displace oxygen? Or would it diffuse into the plastic (unlike the tetrafluorethane, which apparently doesn't) and be no better than using it in the bag in the first place?

No need to add any toxic stuff to the drying process. Dry them cracker dry, store them airtight in the dark and they will definitely stay good for a year.

PS a grower doesn't need to buy from smartshops either and it's not that hard to do ;)
