Why is it that I hallucinate punk music in aeration systems when I'm very high?

Anyone have similar effect?

cant answer your question but i sometimes hear chinese music from my hot water tank. i guess the brain trys to make something recognisable from random paterns.

Years ago on one of my first mushroom trips I listened to a cd which has the sound of a waterfal, 60 minutes long. Instead of falling water, I heard ze Germans speaking during the peak.

I would prefer punk anytime ;)

Well, a few months ago I danced for like 10 hours on electronic music at a party, and when I left it and had my breakfast, I could hear it again in the sound produced by the tiny bubbles of my coffee poppin' ! :D

So I guess you're right, it has to do something with our brain trying to recognize something familliar.

ahh audio hallucinations.. :D

I sometimes get those when i've taken lots of hash. I interpret sounds as voices.. also, subvocalizing my thoughts becomes clear, and at upper levels, overwhelming. Audio hallucinations on acid though (you definitely need a decent amount to get them) can be pretty stunning.. salvia as well i've heard music on my cd player completely changed into chanting voices (and nicely enough i was aware at the time, and just stunned, it was so unexpected)..

btw rather than hearing punk, on lots of hash i tend to hear really fucked up imaginary synth pop. not sure what that means either, as that isn't even a genre i really listen to so much.

interesting how easily the visual cortex is affected by psychedelics compared to the audio side of things. this is kind of the opposite of say a condition like schizophrenia where people usually hear things that aren't there, rather than seeing them.

the most intense experience of this type for me occurs while potholing. about 1200m into the Uamh An Uisge(cave of the water) cave system on the Trallagill(valey of the trolls, hehe) there is are a couple of small lochs complete with white trout and crayfish. to get there involves climbing up a waterfall which is hard work and a little scary so i normally sit by the loch and smoka a joint with the light out to calm. within a minute of turning off the torch the running water immediately sounds like children laughing and women talking. you can almost make out the words. people ive taken there have agreed with me. its a beautiful experiench because its the sound of pure joy http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/arb/scotland/assynt.html

I heard ze Germans speaking during the peak.

Damnit, I hear them all the time. Even in my head there's German voices.

Oh wait, maybe that's because I am German, LOL

the first time i heard the brilliant German band Can i was on mega mushrooms and thaught i was immagining the music. i was too embarassed to ask. now i hear germans(and a japanese) if i trip at home. strange that, must be more common than i thaught.

hehe, we are omnipresent 8)

ich denke ich gehe mir mal ein bisschen sauerkraut holen ;)

sorry for my bad english ... when i take drugs i listen "infected mushroom"
i think "cities of the future" is the best music for the trips :weedman:

That is not really the subject of the topic ;)

But while tripping on shrooms the best music i've ever heard is songs by Entheogenic. It's pure extasy, magic, ORGASMIC!

I also often hallucinate some kind of techno music that could be a video-game music. I also hallucinated some hardcore music getting out of waterpipes at my friend's house once.

oh sorry i see yes but there is after taking mushroom i had listen music and at the end i have audio hallucination (about 15 min)

Hearing sirens and complex psytrance on acid, and a ripping, crumpling sound while on mushrooms. Multi-faceted synesthesia can be great.

I have audio hallucinations whenever I want. And the music's pretty good, too. Usually some kind of minimal-techish-thingy with some added melodies. Ridin' the waves.

*hearing music that sounds a bit like Papa Roach coming from the dehumidifier*

:weedman:

I listened to it for a while before I realized there was no music playing XD

Oh joy! We are all talking about Brain Inference! All of your sense organs (visual, auditory, cutaneous, vestibular, and olfactory) use memories to help infer information to places. This becomes more common with higher developed countries like the US. These inferences could totally be called hallucinations! Your brain is ALWAYS inferring things about your reality, and in effect controls it. The visual system makes the most inferences for example. Your brain is always looking for more symmetry and patterns; thats why people with very symmetrical faces are found to more "Beautiful". We are constantly seeking higher order(lower entropy) geometrically. Once on a salvia trip I stared at a large sign with a distinct pattern on it, and once i looked around the pattern was PASTED over everything that I looked at for around 3-4 minutes. As far as auditory goes, while extraordinarily high I was lying in bed and all of a sudden the Beck - Cellphones Dead song started playing as if I had left it on in my study. I sprang up and ran to check if my PC was on, and it wasnt. Vestibular hallucinations are great, and can be induced with Cannabis as well as mushrooms and .. alcohol - I guess. Lying down under the influence of one of these and you can feel as if you are actually spinning at an extremely high velocity, almost as if your feeling the earths actual rotational speed, which by the way is INCREDIBLY AMAZING! I plan to provide at great argument, proof, or some form of evidence linking our Perceptual Worlds, Psychedelics, and our Physical world. I do not believe that someone "hallucinating" is experiencing something that is not "real" and is just as "real" as someone waiting in line at a market. I will make it my Life's work to contribute to this as much as I can.

FluidDruid a dit:
This becomes more common with higher developed countries like the US

Why?
...I disagree. The realization that we as humans, inevitably utilize a code-world view- to read and comprehend what happens in the world around us at any one time or a projection of it is not bound to "higher developed" countries.
One of the things, in my experience, psychedelics does is enabling one to recognize to what extent is one's perception-and consequently one's construction-determined by the code with which one reads the world. Once you known this, specially at an intuitive level, you can not only consciously manipulate the code, but actually produce myriads of them to work simultaneously in a multidimensional approach. Also, it contains the possibility to canalize your capacity for empathy-this latter is most beautiful.

Alright this is why: Higher developed countries have an industriliazed modern society, where technology is great. Cities are driven on marketing, marketing is driven on patterns, slogans, jingles.... strong neuro pathways to the inference problem! People from tribes of remote places are "Immune" to 99.9 percent of all optical illusions that can EASILY fool any city-dweller.

EDIT: Also, doesn't practice make perfect? LOL! I love my baked pearls of wisdom.

Here your brains doing it now:

They are both the exact same size:
