hi,
ive recently bought some peyote seeds of a website and planted them and have been taking care of them everyday. I have a light in my room that i keep them under in the morning and at night when there is no natural lighting to be provided....is it safe to be moving my cactus from my room to up stairs where the best sun would be. Also the soil level is about 1 to 1.5 inches from the top of the pot...and my cacti are growing more narrow than wide. I'm pretty sure that is because they are searching for light and when they reach a certain point they will evenutally widen. Can someone confirm that..(i just read it off some website and not to sure that it is correct), Also what can u do to help them grow wider instead of higher. Would raising the soil level help. They are also only 3 months old so they are still very tiny. Can someone please give me some advice. Thank a lot.

i've had exactly the same problem than you.
my peyotes grew taller and thin, searching for light, but that is ok. when they will be older they will be fatter, that's just a question of time. the problem comes if they are whiter: in theory, that means that they have caught too much sun (my first baby peyote died from this, and it did caught a sunburn). in practice, i have noticed that the baby peyotes grown from seed may also suffer from this yellowish-white body if they catch too little sun. that's the most important thing with light.
the water is another important factor: baby peyotes should be kept in a humid enviroment: i said humid, not soaked wet. place them in a greenhouse, if you have one. if you don't, like me, put a plastic bag covering the pot and open two or three times a day to avoid rotten roots and/or mold. don't spray or water them in the winter: it is best just to keep them humid. in spring time, you can begin to water them. my biggest doubt nowadays is the problem that baby peyotes have: the adult peyote in winter, stops growing and builds some alkaloids (so they say). your baby peyotes, and mine, grew in winter! so, when can we call a peyote "mature", or "teen peyote" ? maybe after one grewless winter ?

you should had planted those peyote seeds in the spring, the chances of survival would had been bigger.

the most important thing to baby peyotes to thrive is the humidity. i cannot stress that enough. i planted them in a dry enviroment, and they didn't hatched. then, 4 months later, i moved to a very, very humid location, and they sprouted (16 out of 50 seeds) in 15 days. the next time i plant baby peyotes, i will keep them in a close-to-100% humidity levels. a mild temperature is also wanted 15-30ºC.
hope that helps!

One tip how to maintain humidity. You need pots size of egg (smaller egg).
When they sprout out of soil, spray it with rain water and than cover edges of pots(over the top) with foil but plastic one! Similar to the mushroom chamber. And all humidity will be keep in this tiny greenhouse. 80% of success guarantied.

hey all wonder if any 1 could help us out i recently bought a peyote plant from amsterdam its the size of a beer bottle cap im jst wondering if any 1 knows how old that would be and is there any type of cacti food or nutrients i can buy so speed up the process cheers :D any help would be much aprecated peace out

oh sorry and another thing wat size of pot is suitable for my cacti cheers

If you have pot already something like 3vs3cm it is OK. If not, put cacti in smaller pot like one mentioned before.Large pots will produce longer and harder roots but couple of years will be spend on it.Bottle cap cacti from Azarius is full year-max 2 years old but I have bottle cap cacti that is 6 year old. It all depends if you watering little bit more than expected or if soil to rich(minerals).
Use soil that you have got it from store, cause cacti do not need so much nutrition-'reason for their slow growth'-Pedro is something else!

Speeding up is useless, believe me. Try it you will see. One of the methods is grafting cacti on cacti like Pedro but smaller spices (cut the head of cacti(Lophophora) and cut the host cacti and put Lophophora button on cutted host. With rubber produce pressing of the button on host for two weeks and then remove rubber. Host will provide food and water for 'parasite' and button will grow something like 1hosting year for 3 normal. But what is the catch???
You will need to remove large button after 2-3 years from host and let it to grow roots on its own. Why, cause it doesn't have any mescalin inside the body. This will take another 2,5 years(after first year cacti will starts to produce mescaline but similar as the beginning of natural growth). After that yours cacti will be bigger but alkaloids containing is basically low.

Other thing is to inject adrenaline in cacti 40 days before ingestion. Epinephrine will be converted to mescaline by enzymes in cacti or you can inject dopamine-or levodopa-, but with inhibitors of cholinesterase-THIS WITH LEVO-DOPA IS NOT REPORTED AND COMFIRMED BY SCIENSCITS, BUT EPINEPHRINE IS 8) :)

craigy2oo6 a dit:
thanks very much man that was alot of help cheers :D

What do you think. I have put lots of my time and love-enthusiasm in past 8-10 years into psychedelics, magic plants, tools and keys for opening the doors of perception and understanding meaning of life, supreme and mystical ego death-dissolution through adventurist research 8) :)

What I have say to you is from personal experience and disasters.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS IT WORTH IT AND HAVE I LEARN SOMETHING CAUSE I DOUBTH IN MY SELF SOME MONTHS FROM NOW! IS MY KNOWLEDGE WIDE AND DITALED?
TRUE WORD CAN BE HELPFUL, BUT TRUE WORDS-THANX.

P.S.- Grafting will make cacti huge and beautiful, try grafting technique but remember!, minimum 2-3years after cutting cacti from host for roots making is essential-no mescaline. And do not cut cacti at the same place where you have grafted it. Leave 1cm cause very soon 3-6 little sprouts will emerge out from peace of Lophophora remaining just like when you pick button from normal cacti. NEVER DIG THE ROOTS OUT OF SOIL(little or no mescaline, destruction of plant) AND LEAVE AS I MENTIONED SOME CACTI ON HOST CACTI. Peace man. 8)
