Well, I like to cook steak on the grill over an open flame. Cat, I prefer to eat raw like sushi.

That's the biggest difference.

I am gonna be honest here. I am not gonna talk about why I eat meat and fish and everything. I just love to eat nice stuff and I'm not really into the vegetable thing. I don't hate it, in fact I like it. It's a nice refreshment and it is healthy. Now I am at the topic of healthy, the questions start coming.
Why do you feel good after such a diet? And specially, why is it important before a trip? The only fasting i have done is on the day of the trip.
Is it just a mental cleaning thing, is it really a body cleaning thing (and that this will improve the trip.. how?), or is it to make your stomach take in everything it can get its acid on.
Maybe these are odd questions. I understand that we eat more than we need, and that the animals are full with bad stuff.. I feel worse for the animals then for myself.. But that is also just something else.
A lot of the people here smoke, isn't that far worse? Just something that kicks into mind now. Won't this have a bigger impact on the trip?

thats new for me. I think you mean that you shouldnt take them when you had mao inhibitors. But that cant be the reason for 23 days of fasting?

Anyway, a lot of aya analogues would be possible if that were true. Or am I the one missing the point here.

Meat, as well as a lot of other high protein foods, contain tyramines which should be avoided PRIOR to large doses of an maoi or when taking them for extended periods.

The reason people fast is to clean all the toxins out of your body, as the original poster wanted to do, or for a variety of other reasons.

Your body naturally stores toxins in fat cells. That's why if you're trying to pass a drug test, it's best to work out a few weeks prior to taking the piss test; you burn the stored thc out of your fat cells. However, if you wait until the day before to bust your ass sweating out all that shit then it's just going to be released from the fat and will come out in your piss.

Not eating for 10 days forces your body to start going through these fat reserves and thusly pulling out all the bad ju ju.

It makes you feel good.

The only trips I fast for are huasca trips because I don't like food coming out of my nose. I don't know why people fast before taking shrooms? I've always preferred to eat them on a pizza myself.

Basically, a fast is the best way. Just stop eating, drink at least 4 liters of water a day, and make a mix of lemonade (lemon juice, water and sugar) and cayenne pepper. The spicy pepper is the magic ingredient, it cleans you out better than anything else. Drink this lemon/pepper stuff 4 times a day.

I usually do this for 3 days prior to doing ayahuasca, the longest I've gone for is 10 days. My wife has gone 23. The hardest part is the first 3 days, after that, it's easy.

If this is too much for you (and sometimes I can't make it past day #2) then just make an effort to eat healthy. Don't eat meat for a few weeks and focus mainly on fruits, vegetables and whole grain food. Still drink lots of water and that horrible lemon juice/ cayenne pepper mix a few times a day for a few weeks.

...clean you out real goood, mmm hmmm.

So how much lemon do I need?
Half a Lemon, spoon sugar, half a cup water, and half a teaspoon cayenne pepper?

Already having trouble not to eat. Kinda liking the lemonade thing though.
Ate 1 banana to satisfie my hunger.

Furthermore, there is a risk that the saltwater "flush" may remove both beneficial and harmful bacteria from the body.[2] Finally, a no-food diet may cause the gut to stop passing food, resulting in constipation, or may make the consumption of food immediately after the fast painful.

Another problem with the Master Cleanse diet is that it is sometimes recommended as a proven weight loss program. Beyoncé herself denounced the cleanse as a weight-loss program, stating, "I wouldn't recommend it if someone wasn't doing a movie ... there are other ways to lose weight."[1] Proponents of the cleanse do not universally recommend it for weight loss, focusing instead on its alleged detoxifying properties.

is this necessarely? and what does it do to your body then? Different to normal water.
And how does it work? just a teaspoon of salt in a liter water?
 
dude....to detox there's no need to go through these exagerated rituals...if you have to feel good, your body has to be healthy....this way you just stress it.
Salt water is a bad bad thing for you...first it kills bacteria in your intestines, even the good ones, and then it causes a big unbalance in the electrolytes of the body...i'd follow a milder approach and follow brewmaster's method, plus eat light. especially if you're fasting for the first time you should be carefull what you don't eat. fasting is a habit you have train your body, not stress it...you can't just stop eating.

One could say they are in a sense more intelligent than humans (intelligent is a term that mankind thought of, and ofcourse we consider ourselves the most intelligent beings), but we know nothing about the ways of the plant. They are in perfect harmony with their surroundings. We need them, they don't need us.

As far as bad stuff in meat is concerned, there are also toxins used on plants. Bio-meat and bio-plants also come from this polluted world, the organisms they came from breathe the same air.

i talk to them too :) and though in a slow way they respond and thrive when they feel they are loved :D
very hippie talk but at the moment i can't help it the nature is awakening around me in these days i just feel soo happy :D

anyway smoking IS the worst thing to do to your body because it is a pure intake of toxins.
and you feel good after and during such a diet because you clear your system of those fats that stick in your veins and cause your mind to slow down. you get rid easily of uric acids that are caused by meat consumption. and you have a form of energy that is readily available, sugars from plants, and the vitamins and salts create a balance with the electolytes in your bodyfluids acting like a mindrefresher. one more thing...veggies contain unsaturated fattyacids and antioxidants that differently from the saturated ones of margarine (wich though it comes from vegetable oils that have been hydrogenated, is poison!!!) and animals (not fish) are able to bind to toxins and flush them away.
so it is obvious, if your body is healthier you feel better.
now this is also a mental cleaning because it is very close to a placebo effect
one last thing, your trip is improved because:
1 you want your trip to improve
2 your stomach is free from all that crap that the food companies want us to injest so your stomach is "psychologically" ready to intake substances and your intestines will be more than happy to absorb any substance. :D

Cuz you're saying that not eating isn't healthier, well i tried it 3 days by eating as lil' as possible, and i feel worse when i eat now..

the vegetarian diet is the one i mean
fasting or not eating is no good for the organism, unless your body is used to fasting,
as for everything else (sleep, do excercises....), eating is a habit...so your body adapts to the conditions if you excercise it in fasting, but fasting is a bit of a delicate argument, if you start fasting by not eating because you subtract nutrients to your body, the period of fasting would yield starvation symptoms, such as hallucinations ...unfortunately, though it sounds really cool, this is not good because: while trying to get rid of toxins by not eating, you bring a load of other different problems to your body, who will try to hold on to the stored nutrients in it thus holding on to the toxins as well. so make sure you actually give your body a way to adapt to low nutrient conditions thus you're sure that them toxins leave your organism for sure.
you are having trouble eating at the moment because your body is adapting to the "not eating" condition...so if you're having trouble eating you should start eating as much as you can, without forcing and make sure to have a complete amount of nutrients distributed during the day. then if you can't eat it all at breakfast, lunch and dinner you should disstribute the food in many snacks during the day...so eat few but often...this is a good way to get out of fasting...it is a way to get the stomach to its previous dimensions because as you stop eating the stomach shrinks. hope to have that cleared out, ask more if i didn't

no offense taken, it is just a joke. if we lose our capacity from laughing at ourselves, we are no more than beasts. and as someone said...the one who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man.

no i got what you mean and i agree with you, i fasted once and it was an initiation requirement, i won't do it again i stick to a balanced diet without eating meat of any kind
