There's a sort of deep fascination within me I everytime I see or read about it. Watch the first video and then the second.

15 kiloton

nuclear_bomb_comparison.gif

Tsar Bomba, developed by the Russians, 50 megaton. = 50.000 kiloton.

I don't understand why it would be more fascinating than a shotgun or a tank........

It is, to me, a symbol of everything we are THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE

discovery => power => responsibility

Of course it's impressive. But it's very scary at the same time.

It is indeed what needs to be changed, like spice said.

I don't want to imagine the effects of the detonation of a tsar bomb on the world as a whole. launching one of those is suicide, no matter which side of the globe you send it to.

oh I see they already launched it once. well.

That's why I posted it in this section.

How are we going to convince the politicians that our intelligence (the fascinating aspect of this IMO) carries an underlying chance of total destruction within.

And more importantly, how are we going to gain worldwide trust in each other to eliminate the need for possession of nuclear weapons? How do we get ourself to the point of abandoning all our nuclear possibilities? How do we prevent that any area or population will not develop it again in secret for the situation 'in the case of...'?

how ?? i think not possible if not for a global consciousness change. maybe we need to summon the 2012 stuff and then we can make it or it comes just by itself. lol

or well.... we will just go on killing each other, which is the most probable thing.

peace :weedman:

I'm sorry for not answering these questions in my own words. I'm at work now, so I don't have much time to write. I'll cite here an entire chapter from Psychology of the Future, or rather an updated version of it, which can also be found as a PDF on Stan Grof's website. Things need to change, but how? Where to begin?

The Current Global Crisis

Humanity as a whole posseses enormous resources in the form of financial means
technological know-how, manpower and womanpower. Modern science has developed
effective means that could solve most of the urgent problems in today's world - combat
the majority of diseases, eliminate hunger and poverty, reduce the amount of industrial
waste, and replace destructive fossil fuels by renewable sources of clean energy. The
problems that stand in the way are not of economical or technological nature; their
deepest sources lie inside the human personality.
Because of them, unimaginable resources have been wasted in the absurdity of the
arms race, power struggle, and pursuit of “unlimited growth.

As already pointed out by others, it's interesting to note that the atom bomb and LSD were discovered within a 5 year time frame. First the atom bomb, then LSD.

Notice how close the discovery of the active principle in psilocybin mushrooms, was, to the discovery of LSD (if I remember correctly, about two weeks?). I've always found it particular that both mushrooms, have the power to literally blow away the 'known world'.

Perhaps we should make big bill boards with both mushrooms and the title: Which one of the two would represent YOUR heart the most? :D

there is an un-nerving beauty about an atomic explosion, the raw power. Like a thunder storm, hurricane, cyclone, something we see, want to know about, to see what it can actualy do.

but when it shows us, we wish we hadn't asked the question.

but this is human nature...

to ask the questions that need to be asked, sometimes, we don't like the answer, but its the only way we will learn, as a species.

I just hope we learn from our mistakes.

Its funny.

Tsar Bomba is the biggest bomb that was ever detonated.

:)

Lets start a fusion bomb, then we start over from cochroaches.

wait, they really dropped that thing??? from the looks of the chart in the first post i'd thought that would put a hole on earth or something :?

The energy gets dissipated horizontally and vertically up, to put a 'hole' in the earth requires even more power than a Tsar bomb.

Don't get me wrong, there is definitely a crater, but imagine trying to push on sand to make a hole in it. Same principle.
