Hey guys
iv been looking through the forum for a while now gathering bits of infomation and i know there are a fair few posts on these kits but i have a problem that i havnt found anywhere on the forum (sorry if iv missed somethin) basically i previously ordered one of them growboxes like the ones off azarius, and something i did/didnt do messed up the kit, basically the room temp was 24-27 degrees, after 2 weeks the first mushies popped up, over the next few days i counted 20, anyway, only one grew (to about only 3cm tall, opened his cap alittle and ceased growing) the rest of the pins grew to 1cm-1.5cm and stopped growing (i assumed these were aborts) i left the kit for a week to see if it would make any progress but unfortunatly it didnt :crybaby: lol so basically to prevent this from happening this time around, my questions to you the more experienced grower are;

 should i have fanned the kit? and if so would i fan it right from the start or only when its fruiting?

AND

 should i have sprayed the kit? i didnt fancy drowning there home

OH, also after harvesting what little i had i soaked the kit again, waited three weeks and nothing came up this time  any thoughts why?

id really appreciate this help as i want to move on to the pf tek but think theres no point if i cant get this "fool proof" grow kit to work lol,
thanks for any support guys

When I had my growkit from Azarius I just let it soak for 12h in water.
Then I let the water out, placed the bag over it.
And every 2 days I opened the bag a little and moved it a bit so there was new air inside.
Maybe that went wrong?

It is a given fact that not all mushrooms grow out to be perfect mushrooms.
I have that problem too.
When you go to pf-tek method, pick your best mushroom and cloon it on agar.
Good luck!

I haven't a lot of knowledge about growing mushrooms, but I do own the same growkit with wich all previous flushes were succesfull, it is now going for the third.
The only thing I can really think of is you may have placed it in direct sunlight.
I think it says on the instructions that this shouldnt be the case, just indirect sunlight.
A little bit like an hour a day won't hurt I suppose but perhaps a few hours a day in full sunlight is not good for the mushrooms.
Otherwise I wouldn't know.

alright cool, thanks guys, im feelin pretty positive about my next grow.
peace and much love

I just harvested my growkit a nice 101gram of cleaned shrooms. This is my 3rd growkit and i always have good results. Ok i had contamination once but that was after my 4th flush (i think it was the water in the filterbag, which gets really wet while growing) so . I grow them under my desk whit no direct sunlight and around 20c and i also orderd 5 filterbags so i've got a dry and fresh one for every flush. I never open the bag for anything but harvesting. Soaking is very important make sure that it is at least 12 hours

Its a pity you dont have any fotos .

oh soz my bad, i just found a pic i took on my mobile phone right before i harvested it please excuse the poor quality and hopefully you can tell me the error of my ways

Thanks for the foto . The only thing i can sugest is to much CO2 . I dont agree with wafting but somehow you have to get the CO2 out of the box . Iits heavyer than air so you wont get rid of it just by opening the box .

In fact he's right.
There should be waterdrops on your bag...
You should keep humidity real high when you are growing shrooms.
Almost up to 99%, a bit lower is great too!
There is no condense on the bag, and that is worry!
They should have a high humidity!
Air is good, but give them that every two days (if you are growing in a kit and if you are growing mexicans)
Hawaiians need more air.

Spray some water, leave some water at the bottom of your sack, Double fold the bag, seal them with paperclips
Things will go better then!

ah ok thanks! :prayer:
im guessing twice a day is cool from what iv read
hopefully now i am ready to grow my first proper flush, all i need now is my kit to arrive(might help), anyway il post some pics of my harvest,if i have luck. thanks again for the support.
lovepeaceandchickengrease  :tonqe: e

EDIT:Oh, sorry Cannafarmer i started writing before i saw your post, you say every two days? iv read some people do it twice everyday maybe even three, would twice a day be too much and lower humidity too much?

It definately has enough water or you wouldnt have so much condensed water on the sides and your myceleum wouldnt be as thick and as fluffy as it is . I take it you had a cover on your box ?. How many times a day and how long did you have it open for ?

i put the growbox inside the bag which i left closed the whole time (there was actually a fair bit of water on the inside of the bag) and i put it into a clear sterilised fish tank i found, without the lid on, i only put it in the fish tank so that i didnt damage the bag and just basically used it as a shield from my clumbsyness.

OK . How long was it in the fish tank without a lid before you took the foto ?

id say about 3 weeks, shouldnt i have done that?

It shouldnt have had the lid off for more than 5 - 10 minutes about 3 times a day .

ok now im confused, i had the colonised box of substrate in the air filter bag which i had sealed with the two paper clips.(just like it says in the instructions it came with) i wouldnt have thought anything on the outside of the bag would have affected anything? :?

"i wouldnt have thought anything on the outside of the bag would have affected anything?"

I dont understand that ? What from the outside are you talking about ? I take it you grew the myceleum in the bag and then got it out and put it in the fish tank so it would fruit ? When you put it in the fish tank it should have had a lid on it and have been aired like i said before . The CO2 in the fish tank was what stoped them growing more than they did .

Did i understand ? Do you understand ?

nooo sorry, i shouldv explained better my bad, i didnt take it out of the bag to fruit, i had it fruiting in the bag, but i had put the bag inside of the fish tank (right from the start) just to protect it from getting any holes in or damaging the bag in some way, if you get me?

Now i`m realy confused . I dont see a bag on the foto . You said the fish tank was open for 3 weeks .

If you were trying to get it to fruit in a closed filter bag without any airing it was wet enough but the CO2 was to high . If the substrate lump was open in the fish tank for 3 weeks it was open for to long and because you didnt do anything to air it it had to much CO2 .

Again if we havent understood each other please explain .

lol there is a bag there, i think its just the way the lights shining on the photo! youv given me my answer though, i shouldv fanned it (i wasnt using the fish tank as a terrarium) thanks for your help, i can see im gunna enjoy using this forum
