I want to say both yes and no because evolution has created each species to be good at a specific existence. for example, apes have far superior short-term memory to us because it suits there lifestyle better.
However I must say that humans are 'special' because of our ability to question our existance rather than just further it.
Perhaps it's because of our sapience, sentience or metacognition.

You gotta admit however, up to now, its done much more harm than good, we even allowed NASA to grash nuclear sattelites in alien environement we have no way of telling if there was life there.

Heck we find life in the depth of the oceans, scientists even say that the majority of the biomass of the earth is along the earth's "oceanic cracks" where there is no sun and the water is so hot it turns black.

Argument is, monkeys would know whats best for us right now, stop pumping the earth's blood (oil) and start growing hemp and live a simpler life, let her heal herself.

For all we know, whales (even if non verbal) might have metacognition also and theirs might be more important to our vessel the earth than ours, and we're poisoning them so much with mercury that they suicide.

i dont think we are. i think we are just another group of chimps. its my opinion that if we accept this fact we can learn our true nature and have a deeper understanding of what it means to be human.

Human potential is higher than chimpanzee potential. Though many human beings behave much like monkeys, and as a collective make a mess of this planet, some develop a language, beneficial technology and holistic worldview that distinguish them from all of the lifeforms we know on Earth. There's too much diversity amongst human beings and cultures to generalize.

If the universe experiences itself through the lifeforms it creates, don't you think it's gaining a lot of interesting data from our highly developed human nervous system, especially when it ingests psychedelics and contemplates reality?

If you could ask a bee about the idea of it's existance, do you think that it'll answer by saying that he's ordinary and humans are special?

Our observing consciousness makes the universe an existing place, that consciousness is what we judge and we make the judge about our consciousness with our consciousness.

It is almost absurd to belief that we earthlings are the only life in the universe. 15 billion light years further there's activity... 15000 million years travelling 300.000 kilometer each second, and that's only the outer side we can see... go figure.

Our sun has sufficient energy to burn for another 5 billion years. Yeah, 5000 million years that is.

The Dinosaurs have been here for rougly 60 million years. We humans have been here since yesterday.

Nature had demolished the entire leading world population who dominated this planet for 60 million years. Mighty organisms they were.

With the time our sun has left, the complete demolishing of a leading world population, and brand new build up of a new life form can still happen like 10 times for instance.

It is true, there's nothing romantic about it, it feels like we're dirt or we may be even saw-dust of an immense sculpture.

Indeed, Christians do have a motive to be ignorant.
