I wonder or anyone on here has gotten him or herself into such a state of deeper awareness through certain techniques.

not through Holotropic Breathwork. ive never tried it. qigung brings me to some interesting states of mind through Taoist breathing - mescaline like without visual distortion. full ego loss ( wujin or empty mind) which is essential to the practice of hsing i chuan. thats why i keep bringing it up here, not because of the martial aplications

I'd really like to learn more about Holotropic Breathwork, rebirthing and Taoist breathing exercises. I have a little experience with pranayama (hatha yoga).

I did a workshop rebirthing once and it was pretty interesting, comparable to the (limited) experience I have with N2O. Body was gone, mind was gone, all was one, etc. etc.

Qigong can indeed have those same effects on consciousness, although I haven't gone all the way with that yet. It definitely helps in uncovering the switch with which one can turn thoughts off, which is a first step into the depths.

I don't know what holotropic breathwork is...

I have taken control of my thoughts very easyily breathing in through nose, out through mouth, and holding as long as I can. I try to see if I can slow my heart too, to take total control of my sub-concious, I usually can get it to about ~50 bpm or less instead of my "resting" 75-80.

Althought I usually just do this to sit, and relax, not think.
