Yogo is great! I do it primarily for the physical aspects, but doing poses regularly results in a better state of mind.
There are different types of Yoga. A friend of mine is very into Yoga and travels across the world to study Iyengar Yoga. I've never even been to a class, but usually use a video I got years ago. Now, I just use the audio since I know the poses. The tape is useful to pace myself and pace my breathing. Breathing is an important aspect.
I kind of need to do yogo now because if I skip for a week or so, I start to feel like crap. I wonder if I always felt that way before, but just didn't realize that it wasn't normal.
It seems like doing yogo makes you feel great all day and affects all aspects of your life. I eat better, I'm happier, I do more physical activities other than yoga.
I absolutely love doing yogo towards the end of a trip on some psychedelics (san pedro, mushrooms, LSD). It makes me feel great and connected with my body and the earth.
However, I'd have to say that smoking cannabis almost always causes me to be lax towards yoga. This is probably because I smoke too much when I have it. Yoga (or lack of) often reminds me that I'm smoking too much and need to stop for a while. But, I can see how it might be nice if done very moderately.
Part of yoga (Iyengar at least) is non-violence. Towards others, towards yourself, towards your environment, and towards your thoughts. For me, it sometimes feels like smoking too much cannabis is a form of violence towards myself because it makes me less motivated and makes me eat too much.
Maybe some day I'll have the self control to use cannabis moderately. I'm sure Yoga will only help me get to that point.
It's sometimes hard for me to get started, but I've never once regretted doing yoga. It's an important part of my life now.
