I am SOOO interested in doing shrooms and peyote (not at the same time, mind you). I so want to experience the otherworldly visions of a trip.

thing is, I have depression, an anxiety disorder, ADHD and something called Asperger's Syndrome (very mild, high-functioning autism). I'm also prone to rare bouts of mild delusions of paranoia. Like if every day we take the same route to get to the store but all of a sudden I wanted to stop at the tool store on the way but didn't tell my wife. For some cosmic reason, she decides to take another route to get to the store which would bypass the tool store altogether. I'd be thinking, "whoa, could she read my mind or something and why would she not want me to go to the tool store?

Think I'd be safe even if I had a "babysitter"?

if not, is there anything I can do to make it safe? I'm thinking dosing...

I would advise against it.

Maybe, maybe reconsider after your depression is gone (and you're sure about it).
My brother has Asperger's Syndrome as well and with a small dose of shrooms he was okay, and he can handle weed as well.
But to read about what you're also having trouble with discourages me to say that you should give it a try.

It could change your life forever.
Shrooms should be taken with care, especially with people having neural disorders.

I just hate being excluded from what could be a great learning experience. I could very well wake the hell up, know what I mean?

Well if you ever decide to do, do not aim for the visions, rather a small dose only to enhance your senses.

Autism has been repeatedly linked with mercury poisoning, and I can warn you from experience it will not make you particularly good to exacerbate your feelings with psychedelics.

You'd have to stabilise your mind first, or you'll just fry your brain more.

i think you have the right attitude. read all you can about the substance you are going to use. then forget about everything :) then read this. if you feel like you need a sitter, chose that person wisely. someone with whom you feel 110% ok with.

Is your sleep pattern OK? Are you employed or regularly going to school? Do you have a good place to undergo the experience uninterrupted?

There's a few things I want to say about the subject. I asked my girlfriend, who is both a psychologist and has had psychedelic experiences herself about how to approach something like this and we agreed on the following.

First and foremost: don't trip alone. Have an experienced sitter that knows how to handle eruptions of feelings unknown to you. You need a guide, because you are going into uncharted territory and your personality seems (according to the things you tell us) unstable. If you are suddenly confronted with deep fears, and don't know how to handle them and start jumping around because of your ADHD, you need someone present who can handle you and can reassure you that it is going to be ok, calm you down and help you find a way.

Second: ask yourself why you want to trip. What do you want to wake up from? Tripping doesn't equate visions. It is an altered state of awareness in which you can find yourself going through hell or heaven and it may not be up to you which one it is. Especially in cases of depression combined with autism/asperger, it is probable that you have some emotions locked in your body that will free themselves up. This can be very hectic, difficult and wild. If you just want the visions maybe the classic entheogens mushrooms/peyote/ayahuasca aren't for you and you should try a low dose of 2c-b/2c-t-7 or a DMT flash, which is over before you know it.

Brings me to the third point: start low. You'll have plenty of opportunity to up the dose. You will need to be very careful and do not run into things too soon. Prepare well, read through trip reports and tips on this forum or on erowid.org, and make sure you are in a good mood when you do it.

Fourth: think about substance. I can imagine LSD being more suitable for you, as it is a little more rational/technical than the more emotional mushroom/peyote trip. The enlightening properties are just as profound, but the character suits more to people who tend to be rational. In my experience you are also more in control with LSD than with mushrooms for example.

Please think about all of this before you start your journey. You are not excluded from this experience, you should just be very careful, just like everybody else.

If i were you i wouldnt do it .

You sound like me. Your trip will most likely be a gut wrenching eye-opener, have you smoked weed before? - How was this>

Take a very small amount your first time. half to 2/3 of what other's do.

When you feel that depression - is it in the pit of your stomach, or are you just feeling bad?

I'd say I have the same kind of thought processes, maybe not as extreme, and I had a very extreme trip - most of it was true, eye-opening stuff. Not just weird thoughts (like people reading my mind paranoia)...

I'd advise small amounts. Large amounts will take you alot farther than most people go, and it's frantic to get back. :D

Yes. I get a solid 8-10 hours each night.

In 5-7 years, I'm hoping my daughter will be old enough to go to some overnight summer camp or go to a relative's overnight or for the weekend so I can experience it (my grown peyote) without the responsibility of watching her.

See, I want to do this safely.

for the spiritual or emotional awakening experience or journey or whatever. Not just for fun but if I happen to have fun in the process that's a benefit fo'shizzle.

I've read much on this point. There are many instances where peoples attitudes have changed for the better by doing these things just once. It's like if your mind is open just a crack and LSD or psylocybin or mescaline kicks open the doors of perception.

Whether it changes me for the better remains to be seen. Hopefully I'll wind up being a stronger, better, more enlightened person for the experience.

Just situational shit. Mostly they "why's" in my life. Why did my mother abandon me or give birth to me in the first place if she wasn't able to rear children in the first place? Why did foster parents treat us foster kids differently than their natural children or grandchildren? Why, oh why the FUCK do I have to have this goddamn ADHD and Asperger's???

The meds help as does being with someone who loves me and having a little girl who worships me. :D

I don't know anything about aspergers, I know a guy who has it. He seems like he does not ever want to address any other person - like they don't exist. I hope you're not like this, he's an odd one.

ADHD is.. just you.

Your trip would be sporatic, and you may have thoughts that lead down a bad road, the thoughts will most likely be illogical. You may have a good trip, but I highly doubt it since you've already stated your parent situation. Those why questions you ask - especially about your parents...

Why do you worry about them - your adhd, and maybe even your aspergers could be from your childhood... I'm not a psychologist, and I don't intend to ever be one, but you shouldn't question why - Why's usually never lead to a good answer - nor do you really need to know WHY.

Think about the future, friend.

with an open mind, "why" could lead to a good outcome, don't you think?

I'm not trying to argue you guys at every turn and stuff.

You know that jabberjaw chick on youtube? Neurosoup...? Yeah, she said that if you find yourself going down a bad path while tripping, do something, anything that you think will make you feel better. If you think a shower will make you feel better, take a shower. If you think jerking off will make you feel better, jerk off...

I mean, I wouldn't go schizo, would I?

If i were you i would avoid all drugs , take your nedicine and get well . The people here arent doctors or psychologists and they cant see the future . That fact that you have the issues that you have , what they are and the questions you are asking sugests to me that you shouldnt be useing drugs . No one here can answer your questions . You are an individual with and individual set of issues . The only way to find out what will happen is to try it , but remember its you that will have a psychoactive experience not the people here and its you that will have to deal with it . Again , if i were you i would avoid drugs untill your problems are solved .
