I was wondering if you guys could give me some insight on to what college majors and careers would be appealing to a psychonaut??

Depends on your personal preferences.

Almost anything can be interesting for a psychonaut.

I think basically a psychonaut is the one that tries to explore the realms of his own psych (soul), and share that information with others in order too transmit something special about the human being, too everyone.

so , anything in the area of philosophy, ethnobotany , teaching, psychology, shaman, zen master..

Always choose a direction that's interesting to you.

Me --> philosophy or chemistry

OT: CM, did your name get changed or is it my computer display?

I think there's a space inbetween now. Weird.

I'd love to take courses in organic chem, philosophy, psychology, quantum physics (and all that go with it) the list goes on and on and on all the way to Cooking courses..
If you are looking for something to take look in to what interests you.

If you intend to make it your job, then be careful to choose something that has some interesting work opportunities.

For example, in our country it's nearly hopeless to find a job as a psychologist as there are already way too many of them.

If that's only for your personal interest, than everything that appeals to you is fair game.

Ethnobotanist, but for me physics, specifically quantum mechanics or astrophysics.

peace & love

im studying 'philosophy of mental disorder', and it is a totally psychonautical :o

is there an orientation therefore ?

i see it that way too. did he also change his avatar? i see like another shade of violet.

I chose physics. I figure if I'm throwing my mind into outer space, I should remain grounded in reality. My plan is to learn the sciences, such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. through teachers while pursuing philosophy, music, art, and spirituality on my own.

I think being a psychonaut has had more of an effect on how I apply my education outside of school, than what education I pursue in school.

Whatever you choose, you should know (if you don't already) that the teacher is as important, sometimes moreso, than the exact subject. The teacher is critical.

A good teacher can make a boring subject interesting, and a bad teacher can make the most interesting subject boring as hell.

Real teachers (competent ones) know that no subject is an island, but is related to other disciplines in many other ways, and the way these things are introduced into an eager young mind is an artform.

Don't hesitate to change teachers when you get bad ones (and you will, teachers come in all shades, shapes and sizes), but when you get a good one, you won't have to wonder, you'll know, because they will spark your urge to learn.

That being said, what is your interest, as a psychonaut?

Are you interested in the effects of psychedelics on a persons life?
(sociology, psychology, cultural anthropology)

Are you interested in the chemistry of psychedelics?

(O-chem, biochem, etc)

Natural Products ?
(ethnobotanist, natural products chemistry, pharmacognosy)

They're all related, yet any single one of them can take many years to develop competence and fluency in.

Choose wisely, by being honest with yourself. To hell with what someone else thinks you should take, do your own thing, based on what you like.

Sane keeper.

Vouch for virginity within humanity itself.

Yes,me too

A lotta people here talk about ethnobotanism, that doesn't exist as a subject does it?

Terrence Mkenna was an ethnobotanist .

Hmmm yes but I never heard of it as a study subject. It isn't available where I live.

Nothing is really fixed. I'm studying business, my girlfriend has studied finance and i know several psychonauts who have chosen various fields, everything from engineering to arts & social studies. So just choose something which you are passionate about and will also get you some decent income.
