i havent looked in depth at this topic, so i might sound like a jack ass and at the risk of such....here i go....(GOD's going to make me feel like an idoit, im sure)
Its pretty short really. I just believe that if the media covered more about the small steps toward the total legalization of mj that the groups are making and things like the legalization in the denver airport lounges, more places would feel they have a chance the get some degree of mj freedom...i dont know if this makes sense to anyone besides myself, and if you feel me, reply somthin...and if you dont, feel free to call me remedial....

it makes perfect sense. the more often people are shown it, the more normal it will seem to them

thanks bro

But the problem is that medias are controlled by the government and therefore they will rarely say something positive about any drug.

Here, while the legalization-voting comes nearer and nearer, I recently read about how bad cannabis is for the psyche...if I remember right, the title was just "Cannabis is dangerous" or something like that

They can repress it for only so long.

Change IS coming. When I was 13 years old, in 1976, my cousin, who was 4 years older than me, and a friend of his were busted at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Jackson Mississippi with a half a joint of cannabis.

Since my cousin didn't actually have it on him, he was eventually released....his friend wasn't so lucky, he got 10 years in prison. For half a joint, in 1976.

This isn't a story I heard from someone, this is a MEMORY.

That guy was the first person I ever got high with.

That is a lot of change in 30 years, and I suspect that things are accelerating.
More people are knowledgable about the effects of cannabis nowadays.

Even down here in the deep south, many people who don't smoke agree that it is safer than alcohol. It is a cultural shift that takes place over time.

Everyone and their brother has tried it now, and no one had three-headed babies or bacame Charley Manson.

I believe most people recognize that they have been fed a line of propaganda about cannabis.

As long as people keep pushing for the changes, it will happen.

What I would like to see is for people down here to begin collecting signatures to force a medical marijuana initiative on the ballot...

The deep south is the only place left for that to happen, it is going on, to one degree or another, in every other region of the country.

spice,clear me up:

Was the youth toking a lot in the 70ies? I mean it were the 70's...and if yes, why wasn't anything changed if so much people smoked canna?

Today, in Switzerland, I heard that 3/4 of all youngsters at least tried weed. So in 20 years, 3/4 of all fathers/mothers will have smoked weed...this HAS to change something, doesn't it?

Yeah the mass opinion about cannabis seems to slowly but surely become more positive. People are opening their eyes. I think Internet helps a lot with that.

What's sad though is that the conservatives are likely to be elected again here... and I don't think cannabis laws are gonna be loosened with them, could even be the opposite :(

We are passing medical marijuana in Michigan this november 8)

I think it is just stupid, to have it illegal!
I mean, people will always want it!
ALWAYS!
I think the biggest reason why it is illegal, is because hemp will rape the industry!
(of course its better, but not for greedy people and big empires)
Plus, we all know what other medical benefits it could have!
And throwing people in jail for being potheads, is not very logical or moral anyway!
If the risk of getting addicted or crazy is so high, then help people to use THC responsibly and with respect!
Instead of scaring the shit out of potheads(which doesnt work anyway, just on people who never tried it)

"(GOD's going to make me feel like an idoit, im sure) "

I wouldn't worry about that, he's a clown.

Your post makes sense, things change. People will realize that the 'war' on drugs makes no sense, sooner or later.

it used to be quite bad where i live, if you were caught with an ounce you could expect 3-4 months prison in the 80's. now you can smoke in the street if you arent too obvious about it, the police arent interested. unfortunately thats because the place is flooded with heroin. the police here know the difference. the times they ARE a'changeing, but very slowly

thanks guys.....i wish there was like some big thing on myspace or somthing to get the word out......but about the people who have only tried.....they arent smokers and wont fight......and it sucks to smoke with em...no etiquette..but thats beside the point....it is just a matter of time but a big group whos goal is to spread the good word would speed up the process

i honestly dont think mj will be widely legal for recreation because it is a gateway drug, and we unfortunately live in a world full of ignorant people who are just lookin for the better faster high. for that reason alone i think mj should not be legalized. move to amsterdam if it means that much.

I am for legalisation. But I worry about what would happen if the big tobacco company where free the mess around with the plant.

why do you post here? do you consider yourself a "psychonaut"? if so you're very confused. Have you smoked cannabis? if you have you're a hypocrite. Man, I think you don't realize the kind of bullshit you're spouting. When I read your post I first felt anger and I wanted to scream at you. Since I can't and I wouldn't anyway if I knew you personally I think all I can do is try to point to the problem.

Look, there's no such thing as a "gateway drug", this term is fabricated propaganda bullshit that doesn't hold 5 minutes of logical inspection. Think about it. Every drug can be labeled "gateway" if the user does some other thing after it. Which is the case with tobacco and alcohol, which are the real "gateways." But this is because they're legal and available to your mind since little by all the advertisement they get. Anyway such labels are stupid and useless. There's is no reason why someone is gong to crave some other substance just by trying cannabis. It is so inane I even feel funny explaining it to you. What's angers me is that studies show that in fact, people who smoke generally have a NEGATIVE correlation with other drugs! so please, educate yourself before stating such profanities.

and also, read this: http://www.drugtext.org/sub/marmyt1.html

I won't even comment on your "advise" to smokers to move to Amsterdam... can't you see how you're basically throwing away the liberties you and everyone should enjoy as human beings?

damn it, if there are more people out there that have actually tried entheogens and think like you then legalization is farther than what I'd thought.
