Title of my book.

As the cover blurb says:

Technological Paradigms for the Modification of Consciousness and Reality in Magick.

Stuff that works:
Gods, demons, memetics and the rise of Transhumanism
From hypnosis and NLP to electromagnetic brain stimulation
From lucid dreaming to subliminal conditioning and brainwashing
From mind control to the paranormal
From modern séance techniques to remote viewing and psychokinesis
From science to magick – changing the past and inter-dimensional communications
From UFOs and ultra-terrestrials to computational demonology
And the machines and drugs to make it happen

By "stuff that works" I mean that some of the techniques described in the book eg binaural tones work unambiguously, some depend more strongly on personality, intelligence etc eg NLP and hypnosis, some partially work eg brainwave entrainment via pulsed magnetic fields, subliminal technologies etc., some are in dispute eg Remote Viewing, Psi effects and some one would not expect to work but apparently do for some people eg Symbolic Machines. Then there is a whole class of mostly subjective stuff like computational demonology (whose closest "standard" magical practice is bibliomancy).

I am utter crap at reading anything 'coherent' thats more then a few sentances at a time. Heck I can barely reread half the posts I write on here lol.

With that having been said I glanced briefly at the energy/force section just to get a taste of where you might be coming from and I think if your getting at the idea that there are all sorts of paradigms out there that talk about 'different things' that are actually 'the same thing' then I would agree with you.

I have two particular key concepts in my own theology that tie into this. One is that of the concept of 'Lexicons' and the other is the concept of us viewing God/Christ and ultimately Reality as from the form of looking at a crystal.

With the lexicons for those that dont know the definition the lexicon is a group of 'symbols' used to self describe a system of equations. The 'equations' can be verbal like the english langauge has one lexicon that is usually defined as the dictionary defintions of words in english but it also contains the gramatical structure such as the use of verbs, nouns, etc. The 'lexicon' for english is different then the lexicon for french for example.

But there are also lexicons for things such as mathemetics, science, theology. As an example everything in that list of 'what works' would have its own lexicon.

With that having been said I think the key component to understanding cross over concepts between systems of belief is learning to translate the lexicons back and forth.

The other concept I think that applies here is more metaphorical but related and that is the idea that I perceive everyone's perception of things as viewing that thing as if we are on the outside looking at a crystal from one angle. This concept originally grew out of my study of the variety in perceptions of Christ, Christianity as a religion as opposed to a faith (religion is evil, its the faith that is important) and other similar spiritualities.

The idea is that when we look at Christ say we can only see him from one side of a crystal. We cannot see what is on the other side and someone on the other side may be seeing him differently but he is still the sam being. This is why some Christians believe in tongues while others do not, why some believe in prophecy why others do not. There is still the problem of determining what the crystal really is vsus percieving something that seems to be a part of it but ultimately I think a lot of the problematic debates into Christianity come from people who see the crystal from different directions and are too steeped in their own religiosity to see that the other perception of the same crystal, that is Christ is valid.

With that having been said I see that moving around the crystal from view point to view point is akin to translating lexicons. As we translate from french to english and english to french some things change slightly while other things wont translate at all yet if we could understand both the 'french Jesus' and the 'english Jesus' at the same time we would have a better understanding of him overall.

As a metaphorical example I talk about this as if lets say an old text of the bible says 'orange' but todays languages do not have that word in it. Then some texts of todays translations of the bible may say 'reddish-yellow' while others might say 'yellowish-red' and if we relied on only one text then we would be skewed in one direction or the other but if we were able to perceive both texts equally we would have a far better grasp of the concept of orange and be able to describe it better to ourselves and possibly others.

With this all having been said (hope you can follow my build ups) I think there is a LOT of lexicons out there that are extensively compatable with a RELATIONSHIP to Christ and many of them may even be so far in translation away from the 'Christian' lexicon that they are relating to "Christ" himself without calling him by the typical biblical 5 and 6 letter words.

In that respect I think there are LOTS of people who are 'saved' by biblical standards even though they have not read the bible and do not call the being that they relate to by a particular judeo-christian name.

For example I believe that at the very basic any Muslim, Christian or Jewish person that believes in "God" and has a RELATIONSHIP with "God" is saved even though its only the Christian lexicon that calls him Jesus. This is spiritually correct because even biblically the bible states that the Jewish people who have the RELATIONSHIP and not just the religion are relating to The Messiah it is only that they are looking forward to the Messiah coming the FIRST time where as Christians would call the coming of the Messiah before eternity the SECOND time. If both Christians and Jews are relating to YHWH (Yahweh) then whether or not you call him Jesus or not is jus semantics. Its like your friend calling your mom by her real name and you calling her mom. They are the same person and she loves you both.

This is the same for the Muslim as Muslim's are of the same root of abraham in historical spirituality and it is only a fight over I forget the dang brothers names but there was a split at the level of Isaac if I recall correctly where Muslim's see themselves as the heirs to immortality via the one brother and Christians see themselves as heirs via the other. Even if we take the biblical account of that episode is 'true' the Muslims are still worshiping the same "God of Abraham" and being confused of your lineage is just like finding out at the age of 60 you were adopted. Doesnt change the fact that you love your parents that raised you or begin to love your blood parents.

With THAT all having been said (still building here) I believe that are a LARGE number of lexicons out there that are compatable with the idea that the people who are in these spiritualities ARE relating to God/Christ/Jesus/Yahweh however they do not realize it and may never.

With this having been said I can see how your book can tie these types of things together and how each of those subjects you list as things that work can all be interrelated into their reactions and interactions with each other and its only the case of finding and being able to explain the lexicon translations between them.

For example I often do my spiritual/shamanistic/psychedelic/apocalypic prayer/work in a realm that is all about move, flowing and rerouting energy between people via their spirits. I take what someone has too much of and create a channel to someone who has too little and allow them to flow. I create deposits and pools where this energy can collect and then be distributed at a later date. My wife mostly mutates energy by translating it between lexicons at the 'organic' 'spiritual' level turning love into hate for pain or pain into empathy for suffering, etc.

So i could see a lexicon transaltion between what her and I do in the spiritual realm into the magick realm of dealing with spirits and energy and flows and search however we dont see it that way we simply see it as how we do it and have our own names and so forth for it but can occasionally translate into other people's lexicons if need be.

Damn did I just write a chapter in my own book? lol.

Apologies if I hijacked your thread. If you want me to cut that out and move it to its own thread I will. Kinda like what I wrote but didnt mean to stomp all over your book if its not related.

I wish there was a good way for me to get snippets of your book into my head. I have this 'issue' ive had for several years where anything spiritual I cant really read it from 'academic' sources. I have to either get it from conversation or short snippets in conversational style.

If you see anything in my post that strikes a fancy with your book I'd love to keep discussing it. If its just anoying that I hijacked your thread lemme know and ill move it. Sorry again.

Oh and btw, in the general sense I see a concept of their being TechnoShaman's in the world today now that the Shamanisic culture is integrating itself into a technological society.

As much as its been discussed here that we are only re-awakening stuff that we have known for thousands of years or hundreds of years or whatever was said, we didnt have the internet/technology that we had back then and so that does put a new spin on things.

I think of the matrix movies and how the matrix as a cultural phenomenon could affect shamanism. I already use its principles in my spiritual teachings and expressions and work and so forth.

As a mild relation, I'm thinking of adopting the moniker of "PsypherShaman668". Mixture of Cyber,Psychedelic,Cypher and then obviosly shaman with the 668 being a personal joke I explain on inquisition. I have a deep steepage of Psychedelic/Cyber and some cryptology in my shamanistic experiences. Plus google returned zero hits where it turned hits on my other options on facebook and myspace lol. I wanna be different! Just like everybody else! :D

Dammit I wanna read your book but I dont know how lol.

I'm just tryin to like dead head myself into your book. I picked one of the pages at random and then picked a selection at random and hit this:

A perfect warrior is not warlike.
A perfect fighter shows no wrath.
A perfect winner is not aggressive.
A perfect leader is humble.
This is the power of not-contending,
Using the strength of others.
It is called Matching Nature.

or

Tao only moves by returning;
Only acts by yielding.
All things come from being;
Being comes from non-being

and

Without leaving your door, you can know the whole world.
Without looking out the window, you can see the way of Nature.
The more you seek it, the less you know about it.
The sage knows without seeking,
sees without looking,
accomplishes without doing.

DEAD ON! Pretty much the core of my theology. God told me once in particular. "Your job is to exist." We are not to try and change reality we are to allow reality to change us. We are not to look for the answer we are to allow the answer to find us. Lots of similar stuff to but that was the core basic of the conversation.

BTW, just been reviewed by Dave Lee, one of the founders of Chaos Magick
http://chaotopia-dave.blogspot.com/

"It's extraordinary what can happen when a detailed and state-of-the-art knowledge of engineering, psychology, physics, exotic computing, neurophysiology, martial arts, psi experiments and a few less well-known or less respectable disciplines are blended with magic inside the same skull. Dirk Bruere put this book into my hands back in June last year and I've only just finished reading it. My reasons are: a) I find books on magic very hard to read, b) this is a large and complex book and c) there is some very, very interesting and important stuff in it.
...
This could be thought of as the book Chaos Magic has been waiting for the birth of, having fathered it in an unnatural liaison with forbidden mutant technology. In some ways, this might be the most important book on magic published for years.

Well, most of the material is online in various places.
Just go to my chapter headings and search for it in google.
You'll probably learn even more that way

dirk.bruere a dit:
Unfortunately I cant read lol. I havnt read a 'paper' book in about 5 years. Something about 5 years ago took away my ability to read anything on paper thats more then a few sentances to a paragraph. Wierd yah, but so is the rest of my life lol.

I can 'kinda' read online sources in snippits but have to force myself to focus if they are much longer then a paragraph or so either. About the best I've come up with is the Nook on my DroidX and that was the first place I looked when I had the info but it doesnt seem to be there yet I guess cuz quazi self published?

Personal I dont feel so bad if that review is by a 'professional' and it took him a year to read it and he listed the stuff that makes it tough for me hehe. No doubt its a good book but as an entire book probably too text book for me. Snippets maybe though. Which is why I was trying to randomly pick them but you didnt get back till now on them hehe.

@allusion
If you follow up the leads on my website you will at some point be sidetracked away from the path I took, onto something different.
Which is as it should be.

Quote God gave me years ago:

"I like to do things differently. Unless I want to do them the same for a change."
