Hi there! I have a question and I do realize that it may sound very stupid:

Did anyone here ever ate the cake that is left over after growing the mushrooms? (the cake from a growkit)

Because I think that the cake is still full of psylocybe and stuff... it must have any effect ?? I know that the idea only can make you feel sick but I was just wondering

I hope you are not suggesting to eat riceflourcakes? One of the ingredients of that is vermiculite. You don't want to eat vermiculite...

Eating a substrate from rye > never done, never will. Doesn't have a real good look... I will pass on this one.

Eating a straw/dung based substrate will make you definitely a winner and if somebody can post some experiences about that here.... Please don't hesitate.

Maybe you can put the cake in some hot water and make a nice cup of tea out of it? Seems a lot easier to consume.

No experiences though...

Yes extraction (or making tea, however you want to call it) is probably the best idea in this case. You can filter of the vermiculite and other stuff. Water is possible but ethanol or methanol (very toxic !) could also work.

But as for the straw/dung I don't thing there is any other option that to just trow it away, or perhaps use it as compost for you garden.

Yes, the cake still has plenty of mycellium that's still full of psychoactive chemicals; howvever, once you've gotten a couple flushes out of them (rice flour cakes, straw, whateversubstrate/medium) you've pretty much exhausted the "good stuff". It'll be a lot easier to just grow some more shrooms than to try to create some witches brew concoction that might make you sick or kill ya.
