Hey all,

Found this a couple of weeks ago and figured I should share it:
Mushrooms, Russia and History
Valentina Pavlovna Wasson
and R.Gordon Wasson
Pantheon Books, New York. 1957

This digital edition was scanned from the original and hand corrected by Igor Dolgov, Zachary Jones, and Greg Golden, with thanks to a generous contributor.

* Volume 1 (PDF 7.5mb)
* Volume 2 (PDF 8.4mb)
Get them here: http://www.newalexandria.org/archive/

The artwork in the books is just amazing in my opinion.

Make sure to have a look around the main site as well (http://www.newalexandria.org).

Wow, what a find!

I've just been delving into it, and I love it - a very informal and passionate book, and like you say, the artwork is superb.

I have mixed feelings about Wasson. On one end, he is the one that brought mushroom use to Western light but I'm just finishing Jan Irvings new book 'the Holy mushroom' which forces me to look at Wasson with a different view.

He has lied numerous times about John Allegro, discrediting his work (probably) only because he didn't have the guts himself, to challenge early christianity as having been a heretical mushroom sect.

Still the books are classics ;)
