Hello everyone !

I bought a couple of shroomshakers and decided to keep one to me and make the shrooms grow ..

I have a little doubt now:

- I inoculated the spores on 10/05 and today 21/05 have already passed 11 days.

On the instructions it's said that "After about 12 days the jar will be filled with mycelium for about 70%"

I see almost no mycelium. Only a little at the bottom of the jar. And it's not white like on the pictures I see on the internet. It's more like a light brown. And it looks cheesy or creamy, if you know what i mean :? I thought it was more solid ..

Also, the jar has some humidity iniside. Is it supposed at this stage ?

If any mushie expert could give me some info on what's going on, i'd appreciate. Is anything going wrong ? Or is it just me that's freakin out ?

[Sorry for my english. I'm Portuguese.]

Thanks in advance.
Alice.

Post us a picture if possible, the fact that the mycelium is not white and slimy is not a good sign but without a picture its difficult to say.

You could also contact the store you bought it from, and you told us you got more than one , perhaps its also a good idea to check them too !

Here are the pictures:

This is the box where the shroomshaker is.

Inside the box. - It has some water at the bottom and a thermostat to keep it warm. [The watter bottle has no cut at the bottom so the water is never in contact with the shroomshaker.]

- Do you notice any strange thing on the mycelium ?

- The mycelium is a little liquid. When i turn the jar it kinda flows down.

- The humidity inside the shaker is normal ?

Thank you.
Alice.

Doesn't look like mycelium to me. Looks more like infection. Sometimes you can even smell it from the outside, especially when there is a hole from inocculation.

How high is the temperature in this bucket ? The setup looks good but the shaker does not. Perhaps it better to contact the shop you bought it in. But perhaps there more people with ideas, I only grew with this shaker once.

The temperature is right. It's always about 29ºC.

So do you think this shaker is worthless now ?

Can I reuse the box again ? Or is it infected too ?

you can cleane the box with alcohol.

but you shouldnt have plain water around it I think, or you should refresh the water every two days. else yopu will get bacteria

If you open the box in this stage of growing your can trow it right away. Only when mycelium is fully grown you can open the shaker to case it. Opening in this stage will be the same as trowing it in the trash. Would be a waste but perhaps the shaker is already infected. Can you smell anything , like a sweet smell , a bit like apples but more faul ?

Does anyone thinks forest is right ? About the water around thing.

I guess that's not the problem because the humidity is a constant factor in mushrooms' life. Or maybe i'm wrong.

Thanks everyone who replied on this thread.
Alice.

Oh , Forest is probably talking about the bucket ? That should not matter , the shroom shaker is a "almost" closed enviroment so fresh or sterilzed water on the outside should not matter.
