As an 18 year old, I left the army part way through training due to problems with my feet. They had broken my sense and connection with my self down, but not built me back up into a person yet. I spent 5 years building a person out of the bits they had left me. I did it with various techniques including high dosages of LSD and psilocybin, and meditation for post trip reflection. I'm now 37 and a mostly successful programmer and father of 5. I'm no longer "Gung Ho", or even violent. I feel like I was able to use these techniques to reinforce my own general Goodness, and my sense of what Good is and isn't.

Having had this experience I believe that the use of psychedelics is a very helpful tool when you wish to change something about yourself, even to the point of rebuilding from scraps.

I'm wondering how many people have used the psychedelic angle for recovering from mental and emotional issues including army service and depression.

How have you changed your Self using any kind of psychonautics?

Well, before psychedelics I didn't find the value in life. Now I do. I'd wager that peak experiences did have a great impact on that.

psychedelics have helped me feel like i have a purpose in life, even if i dont know it yet. They've also helped me deal with some interpersonal issues by allowing me the ability to see the situation the way i needed to. Also, i'm more eco-friendly as a result of a very intense shroom trip

Psychedelic have done a great deal for me! They have made me realized problems that I was having with my mom, and after that experience, I went and resovled them. Also mainly Psilcybin Mushrooms, have opened my eyes to many things, such as the beautiful of nature. Also I have also found the corruption of this society we live in though the use of psychedelics.

Hi Trance
My brother is also a army man. The day after his mushroom experience, he called the army to tell he wants to quiet. He is now looking for a new job.
Unlike you my brother have been in the army a couple of years, and has gone to war.
The mushroom experience seemed to have changed him.
He is now thinking of building a new life for himself and his girlfriend.

Everyone in the Army should have to eat Psilocybin Mushrooms or LSD before they commit to the deed. That is awesome, I'm glad your brother has 'woken' to the harm that he is inflicting on others.
