I was just wondering, is it dangerous to combine San Pedro with MAOI, I have a friend that wants to do this, but I read somewhere it says DO NOT combine these two. Does anyone have experience with this...?

I've read that it's very dangerous to combine the two! Don't do it...
I'm gonna look for the article where I read it.

I've found the page:

List of dangerous combinations
Below is a list of substances, that you should NOT take 12 hours before and 12 hours after taking a MAO-inhibitor.

Very dangerous:

antidepressants containing Selective Serotonine Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI's) such as the herb Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) and pills such as paroxetine (Seroxat), fluoxetine (Prozac), citalopram (Cipramil), fluvoxamine (Fevarin) and sertraline (Zoloft)
sleeping-pills
anaesthetics
migraine medicines
allergy medicines
over the counter cold medicines
cocaine
amphetamines (speed)
MDMA (XTC)
mescaline cacti (peyote and san pedro)
alcohol
ephedra/ephedrine (for example in products such as Ephedra Super caps, Super stacker, Ultra Boost)
pseudoephedrine
macromerine
phentermine.

Can cause headaches or sickness:

cultured dairy products (buttermilk, yogurt, and sour cream)
all aged/mature cheese (exception: cottage cheese, cream cheese)
dry and fermented sausage (bologna, salami, pepperoni, corned beef, and liver)
all meat, fish and eggs which are not fresh
pickled herring and salted dried fish
meat extracts
yeast extracts/brewer's yeast (Marmite)
sauerkraut
fruits (bananas, avocados, canned figs, raisins, red plums, pine-apple, raspberries)
nuts (peanuts)
broad beans and pods (lima, fava beans, lentils, snow peas, and soy beans)
soyasauce
LSA (morning glory and baby hawaiian woodrose seeds)
MDA related herbs (nutmeg, sweet flag)
chocolate
caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, guarana, energy drinks)
ginseng
St Johns wort
nasal sprays (Vicks Sinex, Prevalin of Otrivin)
other MAO inhibitors.

I read somewhere that san pedro contains a lot of tyramine, and peruvian torch contains much less, and because of this perufian torch is prety safe to consume with a maoi. but I forgot where I read it.

my question: what would the effects of mescalin + MAOi be in comparison to just mescalin? because mesc is a phenetylamine and MDMA and other potentially dangerous substances are too. aren't MAOi's only safe/effective with tryptamins?

That could be true but they don't seem to mention other phenetylamines.

no most phenetylamine are safe, mescalin is prety safe and I read some reports of 2c-b in combination with reu. but mdma is a phenetylamine but also a amphetamine, and amphetamine's are very dangerous in combination with maoi. I dont recomend anyone to combine phenetylamine mith maoi because there isnt as much info on the relation between phenetylamine's and maoi then there is about tryptamine's and maoi. hope to have helped you out someway.

Strange then that they say that mescaline cacti are very dangerous with MAOI. That gives me the impression that it's because the cactus contains mescaline. Not because they contain tyramine, or else they would have put that on the list wouldn't they? :|

Im searching fot the articel that said it but cant find it anymore :P but I believe pure mesc is safe a psilocybin with maoi.

To clear all this thing bout MAOi
In body you have two kind of MAO enzymes. MAO-A and MAO-B. MAO-A is enzyme that is destroying serotonin (all of it) than noradrenaline (something bout 50 percent cause you have couple of noradrenaline subtypes). This is why everybody (OK not everyone) thinks that MAOi is working on tryptamines only. And MAO-A is decomposition histamine, tyramine and some other amines.

MAO-B is what we say phenylamines destroyer. It works basically on dopamine and some other amines. One medicine called L.deprenyl is only MAO-Bi so this medicine does not produce headache, high pressure or serotonin syndrome. Instead this actually lowers blood pressure.

If someone have something to reply I would like to speak bout this. :)

I've tried the combination but all it did was make me feel sick to my stomach. Rue by itself has always had less than desirable effects for me so I don't even know why I thought it would be a good idea. It didn't potentiate the effects at all, only made me want to throw up.

This was all result of MAOi Atype and by this definition serotonin, tyramine, and some noradrenaline. This is what I was trying to say in post before, cause Syrian Rye is MAOi Atype

wow i didn't know all these things primarily cause i was never interested in huasca in the first place but wow it sounds pretty risky nowdays with all these substances we abuse daily

daily? I dont know about you guys, but I dont do intense hallunigenic drugs everyday.....thats just me tho...
