like Saint-Exupéry said: "the routine is what makes every day different". if we end up doing different things every day, it is like going in a merry-go-round...you move, but you surely don't go away from the same spot. routine and specific thinking is what makes us go deep and far. that's my opinion.
but i wanted to ask you, what are the strangest things you do in your routine ?
i'll begin with my contribuition: i live in a building with many apartments. when i need to open the front door of this building so i need to come in/go out, i always call the door lock "patrícia", the name of a person that works at the same place than I. i have noticed that my talking with the door lock have become more and more sexual, as you might imagine.
as you see, it is perfectly possible to reach a bigger inner knowlegdge through the racionalization of one's routine.

peace!

I've gained lots of insight through the experiences with the lock of my door. In my routine I start off by putting in the key, then pulling it out, and back in again. I like to talk dirty when doing this. Then I finally think: 'hey, just what the
fuck am I doing?' and then I just open the door.

No, but seriously I don't really understand what you are trying to say :P So could you perhaps elaborate about the rituals of your routine and doorlock?

Wow CM, you can do a long time without exhaling

The only routines I have are:
The beat of my heart,
Inhalation and exhalation,
The two states of awake and asleep,

No erotic door-lock fantasies though.

Peace.

maybe i have not explained myself properly.
a routine, to me, is a very personal thing, and i did not wanted to know your daily life. it is like watching someone trip, and be able to take a peak of what's going on inside his head.
ignoring our routine is ignoring what we do and what we think. understanting it can take you to very introspective and revealing truths that one does not want to see, because you don't think that you have to do this or that, so it will look good from the overview. you do your stuff because you have to, but you always do stuff YOUR WAY. it is magnificent the way that people's routine interact with each other, as a group and as a single living being. it is your work, if you want, to see you as a single cell that is constantly trading information or feelings to other cells. and this is what makes everyday unique.
my question was more about the strange things you do, because all those things have an explanation and can show you more about you if you are willing to learn. for example, i talk to plants, i also talk with my car, the doorlock, and many times alone. what does that mean ? it means that i need to talk to someone, that i need someone to listen, that perhaps i need some care. isn't it important ? many more things can be discovered, because in this field, nothing happens by chance.
i love doing my routine. what does that mean ? it means that i need security, and knowing what i will find.
i hate that "routine sucks" feeling that has been instaled by misterious ways. many people that say this, never questioned it and just say this because everyone says so. i feel that a person without a routine is like a hen without the head. have you ever cut the head of a chicken and watched the body run away ? i never have cut the head out of nothing, but i have seen it. routine is able to pick a thought and give it an immense depth.
