Do you believe there is a spirit world, an alternate place you 'go' while under the influence of high doses, and substances like DMT?

Or do you believe it can be explained completely by chemistry, neurology and psychology?

I have a hard time believing that a chemical can switch the conciousness from one reality to a 'seperate' reality... but while experiencing such a thing, it is hard to deny....

there is only the now. past and future eventually shall fade away. so the forever, eternal lies hidden in the now moment or rather in between all the now moments that are there, somewhere...

don't be so foolish!!! desperately, continously trying to comprehend the incomprehensible will only make your thoughts move around your head in circles even more and faster!!! don't think you are, know you are!!! 8)

i believe what might be happening is that you rather "reconnect to" spirit worlds, in contrast to actually "going there", but then of course you might say that eventually either description could be descriptive enough for such a specific process,
however i won't put my hand into fire and claim that it wouldn't be possible to be explained completely by chemistry, neurology and psychology. consider that psychoactive chemicals obviously do affect brain-chemistry and therefore the state of consciousness, which is an important factor for the experience that is waiting for its form that is yet to be defined, and in turn an important factor for the state of consciousness would be brain-chemistry (in) itself, representing the infinite (amount of) forms the experience of encounters with psychoactive, chemical compounds actually could take...

just wondering why it seems so important to you to create a notion of separation, regarding the idea of multitple realities, accessible to consciousness, .. or shall i say multidimensional entities and realities???

or alright... then we might as well call them spirits, ghosts, higher beings, lesser beings...etc, etc...

peace :weedman:

I wonder the same often. Maybe what we see is all metaphor, maybe every image and feeling means something during the trip, something to be deciphered. It depends what you want going in to the trip I think. Like the Bwitists in Gabon use Iboga to connect and speak with their ancestors or how the Mazatec use Salvia to locate lost objects. These instances certainly seem to defy our rules of time, so maybe we do travel to new planes or worlds.
