Ok so I got this idea and it might sound wild but I thought that I could pose it here safely without having to worry about the rubber room!

So I was watching a video about Salvia Divinorum, it was posted in another forum. I have only one experience with this but mushrooms... that's another story!

So I was wondering... Ok this is where it gets strange... we are all made up of energy right, everything is, and communication between us and animals is possible although there is not a real language we can interpret what they say if we study them long enough.

What if plants like mushrooms and Salvia Divinorum are communicating to us, say they can speak our language or at least something that we can understand when we ingest them. What if they are imparting on us their wisdom when we use them?

Just an idea, I am probably not the first one to think this but I thought I would bring it here and lay it on the table. Mother nature is amazing so I do not think it is so far fetched!

I agree it sounds awsome an why not every thing is energy we just have to manipulate it right. Call me crazy but my religion is the force (star wars) and the god system of D&D 3.5 / forgotten realms. But iv not been able to cast a spell yet. There's a book my buddy red (fiction) that said the middle of the universe was magical and the farther you are from the middle the weaker magic gets. Expanding universe in RL means earth is to far away from the center to effectively harness such energy/abilitys. But you'll all think I'm insane now soo ill leave it at this >.>

the universe and i dialogue on a regular basis. it's a matter of belief or knowing. this is not new however, people have been doing this for thousands of years with things like pendulums and coin flipping, though, one needs nothing in order to do this. even speech is unnecessary. it is important to note that the user will find no success with a skeptics mindset. only if one can suspend the scientific scrutiny will they find any usefulness in this. try it if you can. the universe speaks. learn to listen.

= why i play D&D.

It is odd that when we are young we are told what we can and cannot do. It shapes or lives and creates doubt. I never understood why people would set such limits, and always wondered if it is these limits that leaves 90% of our brain locked up.

Star Wars changed my life! That and a few books (Barefoot Gen and Fahrenheit 451 to name a few) definitely influenced my life and always allowed me to keep an open mind. Being a skeptic will get you know where in life. That being said, my wife has a lot of superstitions that drive me crazy! Try clipping your nails in my house at night and you are likely to get a frying pan up side your head! Ask her why you just got hit for clipping your nails she will say "You dont clip your nails at night" ask more and she says you dont talk about why you don't when it is dark ask in the morning! Sometimes I have a hard time not being skeptical, I think some of it is crazy. What I don't think is crazy is how much i detest getting hit with frying pans! LOL Needles to say... I don't clip my nails at night anymore.

When I say that, d&d relies on the roll of the dice and has complete freedom you can do and be whatever you want check our http://www.psychonaut.com/lounge/44246-d-d.html for the link I put on this site its all free on pdf but its all old school so ill also put 3.5e Homebrew - D&D Wiki this is real d&d 3.5 and its really in depth and fun as hell but there's a lot of mechanics and a crap load of dice but its still fun once you can get the hang of things. Regardless once you play a game with a ok Dungeon Master and about two to three others in your group its a vary fun creative time please check this hobby out if you enjoy RPG's at all and books/any reading. I hope someone really finds this all fun as hell sorry for going on enjoy :D

I still want to explore the idea that we are plugging into the larger realm with plants because they are the medium or guides. This could explain why refined chemicals have a larger negative impact than plants.

Could you imagine refining and ingesting the human essence? I think it would be a speedy buzz .

Mrjelly, check out the writings by Wolf Dieter Storl. He's an ethnologist who writes a lot on these topics. what I like about him is that he is nearer to the people and cultures he studies than to the academic setting.

according to him, many cultures maintain that plants themselves are only part of the plant, that is to say, the original plant is more of a formless spirit, and the individual plants are the spirit tiptoeing on earth. some plantspirits (devas) are nearer to humans, some not so much. some really seek our company (like elderberry and nettle in the case of my climatic zone. I welcome both, elderberry is delicious and nettle is one of the best plant medicines I've come across), some make tremendous gifts, such as the rosacea family, giving us apples, cherries, almonds, raspberries, blackberries etc. etc.. some nurture us, others need to be used very carefully to harness their healing properties.
then there are psychedelic plants and fungi, which can be regarded as messengers. Rudolf Steiner likened mycelium as the nervous fibres of gaia (he didn't use the word but it seems that he had intuition of the concept/reality), so it isn't very far from there to say that some mushrooms reconnect us to the intelligence of the earth.

the shamans of the amazon also claim that they didn't find their recipes for ayahuasca themselves, but say that they were given to them by plantspirits, which they apparently consult also for the healing of their people. I read in a book that they make a poison for shooting arrows that consists of 50 plants, and the poison wouldn't work if it wasn't for that combination. I cannot imagine arriving at that by trial and error. the poison is meant to shoot monkeys, which would otherwise cramp up and stay stuck in the trees. they'd be dead but still up there and not fall down.

Storl writes way better than I do, so here's a link to an article I read the other day: The Nature of Plants and Plant Medicines | Reality Sandwich
I am quite fond of this stuff, when I studied biology I had a very nagging feeling that a big chunk of what all of this is about was missing. Storls writings were quite nourishing in the respect that they supported many intuitions I had.

sometimes it seems very much to me that trees root in gratefulness for their existence, it is a cosmic love that lets such marvelous things grow. and for those willing, it isn't very hard to see either.
all of this seems more like storytelling rather than scientific enquiry into an seemingly objective nature, but I don't care at all, to the contrary, I welcome the comeback of stories, of wonder and magic. follow your intuition, it is quite fruitful to do so :)

The lorax.

I don't know if this will sound cheesy, and I guess I don't care... I dug the movie Avatar and the way they treated the earth. It almost seems like the more advanced we get as a people the further we are from the truth. I cant help but think that our energy gets reborn into the universe somehow. That the animals and plants have a better understanding of our realm than we do. I guess my first induction into this train of thought was from my studying the native Americans. Not far from the way the indigenous people were in Avatar.

Although my journey here is not over, I am excited to see the other side. I am sure it will be mind blowing.

Thanks for the reading I will definitely tear into this, so much here to consider I am never going to get work done!

^ some links I found googling, some of it sounds cool as hell like a psychoactive catapiller others just make you tripp as you feel like your dying but that's a big part of shaman practices but you already know that :) there has to be something to bring us and these substances together some kind of energy flow or cosmic glue I just hope to become a space nomad and be able to eat other worldy things and live then bring my knowledge back to share but that's just my wish/dream an will most likely never happen :(

I don't know, think positively you never know! I do know that life is a trip, man some of the places I have been and things done/seen, I am very fortunate that I have a chance to experience what I have. Now I have to make decisions for my daughter and give her the best chance to grow. Part of me wishes that she never has to experience some of it, then the other part of me thinks that without it I wouldn't be the person I am... and I like who I am even if most of the people around me don't get it!

:D /cheers
