Psychedelic Workshop

Hi everybody!

I was wondering if you could help me with a plan of mine. The thing is i'm a Psychology Student at Chile and i plan to share my knowledge of Psychedelics with my fellow students. My purpose is to expose a great area of interest that would otherwise be unavailable for those not in close contact with this "subculture" (as you might imagine, psychedelics are not in the Psychology curriculum as of this day).

My plan is to make information the focus of the workshop, for practical-legal-experience issues, consumption of any kind of psychedelic is not an option. I plan to make a brief introduction to "What is a Psychedelic/Entheogen?" followed by a voyage through the western history of the compounds (from 1920's or so) and plants, explaining each of them, hopefully in detail. Also discussing later some of the documented Psysical and Psychological effects and then show the significance of Entheogens in diferent primitive cultures through history.

I plan to make this conversation-oriented, not a classlike enviroment, where discussion and reflection have a space to develop.


What i need to ask to you all is if you could help me with some recomendations (of any sort) for my endeavour, specially articles or book chapters or things like that that would come in handy, i have lot's of material already but i would appreciate your comments!

If you can get hold of a documentry film called "Peyote to LSD" it would probably help you a lot . Its VERY good and explains lots about psychedelics and their history from a scientific point of view .

If you cant find it i think i know where i can find some rapidshare adresses for it but not untill tomorow and the one i`m thinking of is taken from US TV so its got adverts in it . But its definately worth it .

Does anyone else know it ? Can give more info about it ?

I might just tell you things that you should do that you probably already have planned, but things like the re-discovery of the psychedelics the past 100 years might be useful and why they were banned.
Maybe it is shown in that documentary already, I will probably check that one out soon too.

Anyway, good luck with your workshop!! I hope a lot of participants will be convinced.
